But see, this time, it's surprising. A few years ago it would be normal for Americans to be getting thrashed by every African. This was a disappointment. Shows how far we've come. At least we're not complacent.

It was a pretty close race and I honestly think Rupp could have won it if he had made a move a little earlier. He was definitely closing the gap, he just didn't do it early enough. That was a really solid performance by Rupp and I think we have lots more to look forward to based on how he's been performing recently.
"dominance"?
were you watching the same race
in the race I saw, galen beat the 2012 5000m olympic silver medalist and 12:46 man.
try again

maybe YOU should try again. Rupp in no way beat the 5000m olympic silver medalist. The 5000m olympic silver medalist was never ever really in the race.
Like that excuse has never been used before, sorry Rupp beat the 5000 silver medalist. Maybe he wasn't 100% but today he lost so deal with it.
I know it was a great race for Rupp. Sure he lost and didn't get the AR, but he was right behind a guy who closed a 12:47 5k in 55 secs. We're talking about trying to one of Lagat's records here, one of the best of all time. This performance was exactly equal to his 8:09 2 mile and he slowed the pace after the 2nd pace maker dropped out.
I thought it was a great race, too bad about Gebremeskal though.
it was a good race. 9 seconds off the wr isn't bad. The winner set a world junior record.

Sure, he lost. But Rupp did not "beat" him.
Except he did beat him, by 10 seconds.

I guess that means Gebrhiwit didn't beat rupp either
Good race by Rupp. He stayed close to one of the top 5000 runners from last year. I bet Karoki and the Bekeles would take this time.
Lets hope he beats the East Africans like he did in the biggest race in 4 years, the Olympics.

Why would you guess that?

I'm not a Rupp fan, but give credit when credit is due. He just ran 3k in 7:33. No shame in getting 2nd with that time.
Once again a 27 minute 5k LR guy slams an elite runner.

Pet peeve of mine... any expression of "I'm not a {insert athlete here} fan" invalidates anything that follows...
However, I do agree with what you wrote following your lame use of this expression.
h
He should be slammed!! Why isn't he running 7.25 indoors, it's not like it hasn't been done before. He should be at least 90 seconds faster than a HS girl (Cain).
is that you? wrote:Ventolin^3???
no
not seen race yet
( why anyone woud try to copy minimalism ? )
This was a fine race, 7:33, beating Gebremeskel, who didn't have it, and coming back some on Gebrhiwet, who looked very good, Rupp's first 3k of the season and a solid pr. However, I have to say that Rupp to me did not look as strong as last week. He was fatigued from the 3:50.9 and surely from jet lag. It made no sense to fly across the country two more times in one week prior to this race. A relaxed week in the Boston area would have been the thing to do. But there is no shame in this race at all. Lagat, on the other hand, looked terrific in his 7:34.

It's not a lame expression. Not being a fan means that I do not root for Rupp. For example I root for German Fernandez, because he is from the area I live in.
That been said, I appriate a very good performance which what Rupp did today.
So shove your pet peeve or your culo
