Good finish from Rupp. Looked like Gebriwhet's move took him by surprise.

7:33-high for Rupp
Beaten, but not crushed, he made up half of the gap on him, but tactically he should have covered that move. But I still think it was a great race for him.

So Rupp ran a bit faster than Bernie did across the pond, but didn't win.
Cain's 9:38.68 is the 29th fastest indoor two mile of all time, it looks like.
Rupp just ran the 17th fastest indoor 3000 of all time, I believe.
Did Rupp just say "Ethiopia made a big move" in his post-race interview? Does he not no Gebrhiwet's name? What is that about?
Annoys me that Rupp referred to Hagos as the the "Ethiopian." He knows his name.
LetsRun deserves respect because it is one of the only places that refers to the "Africans" or "Kenyans" or "Ethiopians" by individual names. It hurts track and field as a sport to do otherwise: refer to monolithic countries when in fact there are different runners over different times.
Great race by Rupp, though. He is the real deal.
He looked tired relatively early. Looks like last week with two cross country trips tired him out a little. Isn't it nice though that we can be hum hum with an american running 7:33.

No way that kid is 18
I was surprised by how easily gebrewet gapped him. That move was huge. Rupp was closing on him in that last lap. He really pushed it. I think he should have covered the move the ethiopian made to gap him. Based on the way he was closing, you'd think he would have been able to.

I know, right? Before today all he had done was 26:48, sub 13, Olympic silver medal and the fifth fastest indoor mile ever. Now he busts out a legitimate world class performance!
You're such a hater

Shut up. You wouldn't be hurt if they interviewed Hagos and he said "the americans set a good pace". Or the "American kids is good". You see Russians take the lead in the 1500 race at the Olympics and you and everyone else in the race thinks "the Russians are drugged up". It's just the way we refer to one another (especially in this sport)it's not disrespectful, or embarassing.
HAGOS BROUGHT BACK THE OL KOMEN MID RACE SURGE. NICE TACTICS MATE. (Hagos is well known in Ethiopia for reading Lets Run)
Absolutely right--he had already proven himself to the be real deal long ago, accomplishing more than any U.S distance runner in decades.
I just wanted to say something nice about him after I had just accused him of being disrespectful to "the Ethiopian." So I didn't put too much thought into the comment.
No. I refer to people by name. Its rude not to do so.
Gebrhiwet 7:32.87
Rupp 7.33.66
2nd fastest US ever at 3000m 20 minutes ago
Some splits:
7:04 one lap to go. Rupp in second.
6:05 at 2400 with 2 to go
