It's announced Tirunesh is scheduled to run the upcoming London Marathon against FOUR sub 2:20 women and another four-five sub 2:25. She has won and impressed with her two longest road races over 15km with a WR and a sub 1:08 1/2 marathon and has recently said she wants to do something historical over the marathon. The quote didn't specific Olympic as she said the marathon and then later the Olympics was mentioned, could she be waiting to break the WR or just the fastest debut record? How fast do you think Tirunesh will run in her marathon debut and what her placing? |

1st place in 2:16.58 by 2020 the top 5-10 women in big time trial races with loaded fields london, chicago, will all be under 2:20, gelena has run 2:18, melkamu ran 2:21 in her debut so her goal has to be under 2:20 and tirunesh dibaba is better than both of them. a little concerned that she often holds her side because of side stitches, but has been able to win in 10000 a side stitch would be harder in a marathon, but no side stitches and she will be great in the marathon. now who will be the best marathoner out of v. cheruiyiot, t, dibaba or defar? will be interesting to see. radcliffes 2:15.25 WILL NOT last to 2020 and the 3 i mentioned will all run 2:15 eventually. |

yeah right dubai and osaka this year were so far off from 2:15:25 and tirunesh will be off of 2:15:25 for sure. |

Douglas Tirunesh problem with side stitches make it difficult to predict her performance. I will say that I think if she stays totally healthy she could break Paula Radcliffe's 2:15:25. If Tiruesh were to stay healthy before she turns 30 she could run AT LEAST: 5000m......sub 14:15 approach her WR 10000m.....29:28.5 1/2........1:05:38 Marathon...2:14:28 I don't expect her to run all those times but she could run any of them if she focused on them for the next 3 years. What do I expect her to run in her London debut? 1) 2:17:58 with no side stitches and good weather dnf if she have problems with her side |
