*That's what Rupp actually RAN en route.
If he's running this fast for the mile indoors, he's sure to run sub 12:40 for the 5K this summer.
Lol. Which is why I just take the piss out of him...
It was...3:34.78 1500i...in route for Ruppster.
Yeah those guys above him on the list weren't some of the best 1500 runners ever. Wait, actually they were. Did you even look at the list before writing that? Guess what, the best 10,000 runners in the world don't run that many 10,000's either. Doesn't make the list any less legit.
i hate people like you. you are exactly what this board doesn't need. full of hate. rupp has a silver medal in the 10,000 and is the 2nd fastest miler, what can you say of yourself? you are nothing.
here's a tip on life: opinions are like buttholes. everyone has them, and they all stink. now go cry to mommy.

IMHO 3:50.xx on an indoor track is worth 3:48.xx outdoors for a taller runner like Rupp.
I always said Rupp is a darkhorse to drop down to the 1500 for 2016, and so far it seems he's not contented with just being the fastest 5k/10k guy in a mile. At this point he should set his sights on the outdoor AR in both the mile and the 1500.

So Webb may challenge his 5K and 10K records.

I don't know if it's any consolation, but I don't think he's full of hate. He's clearly enjoying himself. He gets a kick out of the results of throwing the verbal equivalent of flash grenades into Rupp threads and if his style and tone aren't giveaways, his name is. Say what you will, but even if he decided to go straight this second, he would still be admitted to the LRC Trolling Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility and be named on every ballot in the process.
Guess Webb and Rupp won't be training for a fast 5,000 together this year. Too bad in a way.

Rather look for an attack on 7:30 and 12:50 this year if the conditions are even remotely accommodating. I could see he and farah just lighting up the diamond league this summer with assaults on national records and making very big jumps up the world all time lists. Perhaps he will go after his 10k again, as he is surely ready to drop that substantially after 2 years.

:) QUACK!
Holy Moly... this kid seemingly has no limits. He can easily go sub-3:50 outdoors right now. Is he going to eventually challenge for the American mile record too? I figure he has this year and next to peak before he moves to the marathon (though could still compete in the 5,000/10,000. Maybe this will be the year. No way are the 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 ARs going to hold if he runs them. I would love to see this kid at world cross.
:D I got quacked!

Total Kudo's for that read. I knew at least someone on this board has made that point for years. I didn't start to wonder what Rupp could really do in the mile until a few years ago when Salazar revealed that he had never really developed Rupp's kick or speed!!!!!!
Looking back, the mosaic of interviews and quotes from Salazar...the entire process of building Rupp up to 2012 is clear. I love how Salazar has always credited Bob Kennedy's advice to bring Rupp along slowly. Kind of mind boggling to realize that Salazar only started developing Rupp's long drive, and kick, and sprint ability in the past 2-3 years.
Salazar consistently has said that the key to success for runners is unbroken training, and staying injury free. Looking back, all the caution over "Rupp Certified," and Rupp's health (as opposed to how Salazar ground his own health into dust) seem to have been smart.
I doubt we'll ever see another (male) athlete like this in our lives. Rupp won the lottery going to Central Catholic and getting a great coach so early.
12 years of steady development with smart stewardship (so much common sense being uncommon) on top of Rupp's soccer fitness base.
What a story, what an athlete. Glad people are appreciating it. (You know, with a few "message board rats" following along from the gutter.)
Funny
This board was filled with hate-Rupp posts just a few years ago. Who were those people?
I bet now everyone is a Rupp fan. Pathetic.
Hey Ventolin, can you post your lines of fit assuming this kid is at 3:49?
So Rupp solo finishes the equivalent of 3:33, two seconds behind Geb's 3:31 when he was chasing El G. Looks like he is going to focus on sub 12:45 this summer.

I know. It's ridiculous. Even the Brojos got on the "Rupp-certified" nonsense.
I should say, joined in...

Lol, more like hall of shame at this point.
