Alfonz Juck just reported on Twitter that Abderrahim Goumri, Moroccan marathoner under a doping suspension, was killed in a car accident. Rashid Ramzi, also guilty of doping, and Youssef Baba were both in the car and were critically injured.

This is terrible, terrible news.
So sad.
Please be very careful when driving.

How careful would I have to be if a trailer crossed the median on the highway and slammed right into me?
This is so sad. Probably three guys on their way home from training together. Many of the London marathon photos shows Wanjiru and Goumri together :(

Really Careful. Which is how you should be always. Don't assume anything behind a wheel. Of course some are truly unavoidable. Very sad story, I wish the survivors well.
Ramzi reportedly in very bad shape.
I find Rojo's article on the front page very disrespectful.
Nice photo of Gourmi.

You find the truth disrespectful? If you dope, you should expect that people will remember it. Another good reason not to dope.
I have great respect for Abderrahim Goumri.
He was an awesome person and runner who died tragically.
Wow, I'm surprised this has gotten so little publicity here. I know that a lot of contemporary Moroccan athletes don't get a lot of love on this site, but this is a pretty tragic affair.
Does anyone know the circumstances of the crash? I haven't been able to find the details online; I've only read in about 19 languages that Goumri was on his way to Rabat.
Im a friend of Goumri and will just say that Abderrahim was a great friend, a reflected person and a truly nice guy, with 2 kids and a wife.
I am not at all supporting his choices to use doping, and its a shame that he went in that direction.
At the same time you got to remember that coming from a really poor background and running is your only chance to get a decent life, I think its to easy for us to sit in our comfortable chairs in the western world and critizise.
Doping can never be defended, and is cheating even if you are rich or poor, but even people with a warm heart can be forced to take the wrong choices...
Friend of Goumri: Thanks for posting. Do you have any more details on what happened?
No, unfortunately I haven't any more info on what happened, only read it from international media as I live in Europe.
Several twitter reports indicate Ramzi and the other fellow were not as badly injured as feared and have been released. Cannot confirm accuracy, just reading tweets.
Search Rashid Ramzi you'll see them.
Condolences to the Goumri family.
