Te'o obviously made this whole thing up in order to try to illicit some sympathy. How could he have not talked at least asked to talk to this pretend girl on Skype at some point? Didn't he also claim he met the pretend girl in person at the Stanford game? The story is just bizarre.

I think that part of is how incredible that we could not know something this big about a celebrity in this day in age. It feels like we know everything about everybody.

Because of facebook I know that somebody I haven't seen since middle school had a painful late term miscarriage. It shows that, even in this age where we seem to know much more than we even want to know about others, that secrets still exist.

I don't understand how this story is even remotely newsworthy. While that's true for 90% of the crap spread as news, I really don't understand how this story has people talking, debating, and convicting.

From a technical standpoint sure, showing everyone the phone records should put an end to the whole shebang.

But, from a logical standpoint why does anyone give a s**t? We already know he didn't profit from it, ND lost the bowl game, and T'eo is being shamed in an untold number of meme's.

So there's a prurient interest for sure, but is there any logical one?
