For a cold night when I'm looking for a strong, heavy beer, nothing beats Victory Storm King. Great Russian imperial stout.
Also a big fan of Bell's Two Hearted for a pale ale.

Henry Weinhards - a good Portland, OR brew (IPA, Lager & Red Ale)that is reasonable cost. They used to be only on west coast and I found now at Krogers now east coast. Used to have to wait to visit parents in CA to get some. They sponsored Masters World Track in Portland a few decades back.

I am not that knowledgeable about beer (mostly just into IPAs and other hoppy styles), but I think of Avery as sort of like Boulder's version of Odell's - a good diverse under-rated brewery that has plenty of good stuff, good variety, and at a reasonable price for a good micro-brew. Most people visiting Fort Collins are jazzed about New Belgium and, not to belittle them, but Odell I think has better regular offerings. I could drink nothing but Avery and Odells and have a really nice variety of beer for pleasure drinking without going broke.
I would say Avery Maharaja is almost as good as Firestone Walker Double Jack and generally much less expensive. Their standard IPA is really good too.
Hey Brian. We sometimes get Avery back here in Greenville. Their IPA is one of my favorites. I'm not sure if it makes it's way out to you, but the Sweetwater IPA out of Atlanta is my favorite right now. It has a great nose and a very fresh taste.
I found Sam Adams Whitewater IPA for the first time at my local beer store. It's pretty good stuff. Sam Adams always puts up a solid effort.
Can anyone list any Midwest IPA beers that might be attainable in KY. I've tried about everyone I can find in the liquor stores.

Interesting. In Boston a bomber of FW Double Jack is a buck or two cheaper than Avery Maharaja. Love both of em.

Look for Session beer from Full Sail out of Portland. They come in 12 packs of 11 oz bottles and are shaped like small Red Stripe bottles. Under the cap is an image of a Rock, Paper, or Scissor. Session comes in Red (normal) and Black (stronger). I like the red, it tastes like and looks like a good quality American lager from yesteryear.
I like the black Session beer. Little strong and yet smooth tasting...
Can't go wrong with Guinness on tap either! Dang, I'm hankering for one now but I have cut out alcohol this week....:(

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer St. Arnolds (Houston) Elissa IPA.

I really like anything Dogfish Head, Saranac, and Victory right now.
The Victory Storm King is incredible.
I was recently in NC and had some really good ones. Foothills Jade IPA was quite possibly the best IPA I've ever had, but it's only available on tap at the moment.
There's been a similar microbrew explosion in the UK in the past few years. Kernel, Thornbridge, Dark Star all make good stuff. But Magic Rock are absolutely killing it right now - everything they make is awesome!
Is Falls City still in business. My parents moved from Kentucky in the 50s-and my dad used to drink it when our family went back to visit. I think I still have a Falls City church key kicking around my silverware drawer.

You made me so happy with this comment! Thanks man.
Blue Pointer Brewery sponsors a 10 mile race this weekend. Free beer after the race, all varieties I believe. I let you know what good.
Hardywood Brewery is becoming one of my favs to stop for a good beer. They have AMAZING Gingerbread Stout which scored at perfect 100 on Beer Advocate list. Anything by Starr Hill Brewery is damn good too.

They brought it back. I don't remember trying it but it is everywhere in Louisville.
