8 million pages on this long aged thread and no one has stated the obvious: she didn't dope, she cut the course. Duh.
ah the Patti Catalano argument (sub 2:30 at NYC in 1980)
you are suggesting over a quarter-mile short course or cut and no-one noticed? don't think so
what's interesting about this thread in summary is many people are indirectly insisting that non-east-african women can't run sub 2:20 clean, which doesn't seem like a valid argument
plenty of 2:21 women which is vdot 71, but sub 2:20 needs vdot 72, so why is that "impossible" ?
Sub 2:20:00 might be possible.... ? However, there is a world of difference between 2:19:59 and 2:15:xx
It boggles my mind that people think PR was actually clean. She's beating other dopers by 2 minutes, doesn't that tell you anything? And it's not just that in isolation. Her changing stories and her sudden change of heart regarding transparency, are also red flags. Her reasoning for the results on the blood tests are a serious load of bs. The only way you would accept those excuses would be if you're either ignorant about what the data means, or you're not objective.
