That 12:46 was really unexpected, spectacular race of both the ethiopians!
In my opinion, 3:50 is what I consider a really fast mile on the circuit, or a fast kickers time, whatever, but I don't think you can run 3:50 without being a miler. I mean, Komen had 3:46 but that's Komen - freak of nature and running some miles/1500m in his career.
Next 3:48 by Craig Mottram, but he also runs them at times.
Moorcroft 3:49, the same.
James Kwalia C'Kirui maybe the fastest non-miler: 3:50.39 in Hengelo 2003. Eliud Kipchoge almost identically 3:50.40.
