This is a false perception of Loxsom. Does he not get any credit for beating Andrews both at USAs and World's in 2010?
In 2010, when he was a freshman and ran a world junior record of 1:16.92 world junior record for 600 on January 16th, I"m sure you and everyone else thought, "This is crazy, he's bound to flame out."
In actuality, he ran a pb on July 25th at world's.
2011 - he ran his PB on July 1st 1:45.28.
So twice he's been running his best in July!!
Last year, he certainly struggled but he ran his best race of the year when it was a big race - at Big 10s.

I may become the official Loxsom and New Haven defender.
Just after I declare myself the official Loxsom defender, I see the race video and become irate.
You can watch the race here:

The 800 is meant to be run in lanes. Why in Gods name wouldn't they start the elite heat out of lanes? Ridiculous.
If you have more than 6 people, have them share lanes.
also - my #2 pet-peeve. Finishing in lane 2 when you are all alone.
Cas, stay in lane 1. Always.
You are a front runner. Make everyone else go wide. If you go out to lane two, someone from way back like Andrews will come up on the rail.
do it when it counts then talk..

Silver at world juniors. Enough said.
Cas is a talent. I'd just like to see him be more consistent at the big meets. He almosts always seems to leave it as lesser meets or too early in the season. He is now hopefully a more mature runner and will finally get an NCAA title.
I think it is almost hysterical that Rojo compares Loxsom beating Andrews to Andrews beating Wheating for an Indoors National title when he was a frosh and drilliung Wheating again at Penn for a title
shows very little perspective
Andrews was second at NCAA's outdoors to Wheating who finally got it together to win 1 of 3 that year to a freshman
I wonder how many of you questioning Cas' record at the nationals have ever been through 800m rounds at the NCAA level.

World Juniors is a test of who is the most physically mature for their age. It is NOT a major competition. Most of the top juniors don't even sign up.
Fast times in January, Cas is AWOL at NCAA's. A huge talent being wasted when it doesn't count.

I think the perception was that he would be better by now. I always look for him and hope he does well. I still think he could be great. Who knows - Duane Solomon put in year after year and finally got in huge breakthrough. I hope Cas and Jock can do that.

I think this is the answer. Cas is a speed-based 800 runner, it could be that he gets more easily worn down by rounds than the guys who have better endurance.
I vote for world titles. NCAA can be good and not, and in the middle distances the US might be stronger than it has ever been, both collegiately and internationally, at least since the advent of full world competition.
To dis a medal at World's is really a sign of something like blinders, inapt use of a posting name or of enmity/being a troll.
Rojo,
I see you miss coaching already.
Case in point, at the 1960 Olympics 800, Roger Moens moved wide in the homestretch and Peter Snell went by on inside to win Gold.
tough crowd. how many of us can claim anything close to his credentials? just because he's not a championship medalist every time out doesn't mean we can't be fans. or that he is worthy of your criticism.
Could they seriously only find a guy to rabbit for 300m?
Robert this attack on Cas is more of a attack on the Penn St. program as a whole.
They as a group drop these ridiculous times in January and frankly they have a problem of finishing. Year after year they under perform at the NCAA meet, indoor and out. They have had a couple of good individual performances and a solid relay but as a whole not so much. But the one individual that highlights the lack of post season finish by the squad is Cas.
They actually remind me of the LSU 800 runners on the mens side. They tear it up year round and then the NCAA meet came along and they are out in the rounds or if one made the final he took it out hard and faded.
I am glad they took home the 4x8 at Penn last year because for several years they came in with a bomb squad and left empty handed. Not an NCAA title but that was a big win.
