http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fws3wgj7les Not sure if that has been linked, but here is a video where AlSal claims Rupp is doing 75m in 8.4s. Occurs right around 2:00. 2:30 ish also looks to be pretty all-out running. Just posting it here so in case people want to see it and those that know sprinting better can analyze what is actually going on. |

Salazar is standing some way from the finish line, so he has to guess when Rupp is passing the start and finish and this is not a reliable way to time a sprint. However, I do think Rupp can run a flying 100 in well under 12 seconds. He is faster than Farah. With Rupp's speed and endurance he could give the 1500 and mile records a good go if he was so inclined, but he would have to be as commited as El Gerrouj was and I don't think psychologically he is that determined. |

I would like to see Rupp run some more 1500s this year. It'd be cool if he ran the 1500 at nationals in an off year. |

I would like to see him run 1500's against the best in the world, how fast could he go? At least 3.28 in the right race. |

Looked lightning-fast. Also looked/sounded wind-aided. |

How should a 5k/10k guy be able to run a 3:28? Not even the best 5k/10k guy ever (30 seconds better in the 10k!)did manage more than a 3:32. Galen is by no means a bad runner, but hes just not a 1500 runner. If he was, then he would have won a medal in this event and not the 10k. |

Rupp is one of the fastest finishing 10,000m runners ever. How many guys have closed high-class 5000/10000 races in 52-53 like he has? How many can run under 26:50 as well? These guys come to mind: Bekele Farah Rupp Geb? (never closed a race under 54 to my knowledge) Kipchoge |

Talk about ruining an otherwise useful video with the music overlay. Wonder if the mask will return this spring. |

Guys ready? Rupp can beat Centro at 10k by a lot, and 5k by a pretty good margin. Centro ran 1:48.xx in Europe like 2 times before he ran his 3:31.xx PR about 3-4 weeks later... Rupp clearly is faster now than his super old 1:49 PR. I'd bet he can crack into the 1:47-low range. If Rupp still did his exact same training but focused on a short taper or freshening for a 1500m, I bet you he could run 3:30-low in a fast wabbitted race. |

Lightning fast? Bwahaha. Please... |

Bekele was capable of 3.29 in the right race. Rupp has more speed, 3.28 at least. But being in the right race makes a big differnence, so the best 5000/10000 guys tend to run around 3.32 in a good race with potential for faster times. |

Pretty sure that he closed pretty fast at times. If I remember correctly, he closed his Atlanta OG victory with as fast or faster a last 200 than any other race that did not start with blocks (i.e., only faster closings were in the 200/400/...). It was tight with the 800 but not that tight. The prior 200 was not blazing, but it was at pretty good pace. As for 8.9 for 75 meters, I was a mediocre distance runner and could run 12.00h 100m with training flats. Add 3.1 for the first 25 meters and you get 12-flat, and there is no way he is going to do 3.1 for the first 25m of a 100m. |

Yeah Rupp is probably amongst the fastest closing 10k guys in history (of those who have fitness to compete at a current OG medalist level...~26:45). |
