Thinking of newness and new starts, are there any original, interesting, high-profile, or exciting races or events debuting this year?

Not brand new/ inaugural event, but only a couple years old:
Haven't done it but heard good things about it from others. Same day as the Philly Marathon, so that might be a consideration. If I hadn't (at least for now) retired from running marathons, I might think of running this one.
Yes, the Banff Marathon is new, June 23. I can't think of a more beautiful place in the world to run; they have a 22k race in September that sells out in 2 hours every year. This marathon looks amazing, however I found out from the race director that the course isn't certified. Still looks cool:
Someone has applied to hold a half marathon down Clear Creek Canyon (US 6) finishing in Golden, CO. I don't think it's been approved yet-but it's supposed to be in the fall sometime.
Yes, the carbon fibre reinforced rods up your pooper marathon

That looks absolutely incredible. Not too concerned about whether it's certified--it just looks like a blast.
SF RnR on April 7th.
Also, SLO Marathon, SLO, CA on April 7th (2nd year)
A new trail race in Michigan is going to be branding finishers' (hand-crafted wood) medals on site when they finish. That sounds awesome!

Cool idea, and it's in my neck of the woods.
Runners Marathon in Reston, VA.
I am sure the rock and roll series is adding as many lame non-descript races as possible next year. They want 50 by 2015.
