I am questioning whether I should apply.
I ran 4:25 for the 1600m as a junior.

A men's track team that is...
Don't believe so but not 100% sure. Too bad, great place to go.
Vandy has a mens xc team but no track team. why post on here? did you not think of looking at their page and writing their coach??

No sanctioned team. They have a rag tag track club.
Varsity XC with a squad limitation of 12 on roster...non-traditional season is the spring and they run 5 (max allowed) outdoor meets. Budget covers both but obviously some limitations on the track side. Things could change with new 300 meter indoor track ready next fall ('13)...
Oh hot diggity! An indoor Track! How would my athleticism fit on that team? From what I can tell from the videos it's a crummy high school caliber team

Not an awful team. Just your run of the mill group guys, most of whom dipped under 16 in highschool. They get to have fun and compete in the SEC, which is pretty cool.

But it's a club team right?
I think with the new indoor track coming and athletics in general beginning to be taken more seriously at the school, there will probably be a funded men's team in the near future..especially if coach keith keeps succeeding on the girls' side.

Would I be "pissing" my talent away if I went there? I am trying to go well under 4:20 as a senior

Son - I don't think Vanderbilt is a program you want to pursue if you are seriously interested in advancing your running career. If you are that talented academically and want to pursue a serious running program, then consider one of the better public or private universities as a walk-on (UVa, G'town, Princeton, etc.).
Bucknell Lehigh Rice ?
Also, OP, look at UF. Great cross/distance school that develops runner, and great academically, and in the SEC.
UF great academically?? I must have missed that pronouncement.

Bucknell has had decent teams in the past - not sure about now. None of these are going to be top 20 teams at the NCAA championships, but some may have decent enough programs. Certainly Wake Forest, GT come to mind. Perhaps Lehigh as well. All are excellent schools academically.
I guess I'll be the next "Cam Levins" story then...
it looks like you want to study business. if so, i wouldn't go to drexel.
Vandy has a good business program. Im planning to apply there for Masters of Finance. They only have Men's XC.
