Are they worth their $180 price tag for a high school kid (or anyone for that matte)? Are there any spikes that rival them, but cost much less?

the old victory is on sale on runningwarehouse for ~50-55 dollars and are listed as 0.2 ounces LIGHTER than the new victory. youre only paying for the 2013 color scheme.
the victory elites are sick, but i would only buy them if you are really good. other alternatives, the OG victories, if you can still find them in your size. the victory 2 is coming out in january and is the same shoe as the victory elite, only cheaper because the plate is not carbon fiber (and therefore less springy). Or, you could get the mamba 2, (you can't get the OG anymore). If you are focusing on longer events, you could get the matumbo or matumbo 2

not true, the victory elite is a different shoe
I'm not familiar with non-Nike spikes, but there are some good ones out there.
The Saucony endorphins are as light as the victories

The new victory's have a full length carbon plate on the bottom.
Buy the previous victories. Like someone else said, around 60. They're a great spike, I used them for the 400/400h/800 and loved them even if they're more commonly a miler spike.
I have run in the new carbon fiber vic's once. I like them, I don't $180 like them. They are more springy and I could see myself running a small bit faster because of them. Although I run in a pair of victories that are 6 seasons and many workouts old so they're pretty darn beat up.
nah really not worth it. think about how much that is for spikes its pretty ridiculous. get the victory 2's if you really have to. save $60 and virtually the same, probably even better since the carbon fiber plate of the elite is too stiff for most people.
i think the matumbo 2 is definitely worth the price. ill be sticking to regular victories myself. can easily get them for $50 now and i think its a great spike
it depends on the runner. unless if you are favored to win at your meets, get the nike zoom victories for 50-60 at runningwarehouse.com but if you are one of the better athletes at the starting line, then yes, get the victory elites. that shoe kicks way harder
Yeah, thats why Kemboi(SC) and Farah (in the 5k) won their Golds with OG Victory Spike Plates.
NIKE JUST LOWERED THE PRICE ON THE VICTORY ELITES BY $60. SO NOW IT'S $120. SO FAR I'VE ONLY SEEN THIS PRICE AT THE NIKE ONLINE STORE: http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/?l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-656555/pgid-656554
different shoe einstein. the $120 shoes are the victory 2s which don't have the carbon fiber bottom.

Why should it matter how fast you are compared to your competitors. If an elite 5k runner is looking for every advantage in a shoe to run under 13 min why shouldn't an athlete look for every advantage to try and break a 5 min mile?

because you can get the victory for 50 dollars and the victory elite for 180 dollars
What about now? What are your opinions now? You can get victory elites for $100 and victory 2s for $80. Also OG vics are harder to get in the right sizes
If I can get the zoom victory elites for 120 do you think they are more worth it?
I have all three victories the victory 2's were alright the vic elites has slightly more spring but its not noticeable in races my personal favorites are the og victories theyre lighter and while they dont spring the same they have better grip of the track. The original victories are my all time favorite spike and Im currently looking to find new ones to replace my elites. In my opinion go with original victories and if you can find the all white ones snag those because theyre fresh.
never used the og vics but i'm guessing there's a reason why rupp and co. are still using them. imo the OG and the 2 are incomparable.
I wear the Elites up to 5000m, although my calves will be extremely sore after a 5000m in them. I like the carbon fiber plate, it feels extra responsive. I have found them on sale for $90.00 in the past.
Is there a major difference between the spike plate in the victory 2s and victory elites? I just got the victory 2's from my coach and I like the spike plate but I am a 400-1500 runner so I was wondering if the elite is overall more responsive.
Matumbo's no question
