When guys have a mid-life crisis and go off the rails, people are generally very understanding. I don't see any difference here, and I don't make a harsh judgement just because it's a woman instead of a dude. Sex is just sex, we all like it, yes? I hope SFH can work through this tough patch in her life and end up happy and sane. Good luck. |

There was some back-and-forth on this thread about what makes a hobby jogger, but my question is: Does spending $600/hour for an escort raise you above the level of hobby johner? |

O, if only she had been an ultramarathoner. Can you imagine what the full GFE would be like? And it wouldn't cost much, because she'd be used to thinking that a cotton t-shirt and a few orange slices was an adequate exchange for her participation. |

This. A per-hour rate, by itself, tells you that she's not a top-end escort. OTOH, it's nice that a working woman in her 40s can make decent, if not great, dough. Even if she were a semi-full-timer (she's not; I read a couple articles before I got bored by the whole business)--with, say, five dates a week--that only works out to ~$150k a year. Not fabulous wealth, in other words. And it's a short-lived career, at best. |

Yeah when Tiger Woods was caught everyone was very understanding. Or any of the congressman trolling for sex on the web (take your pick of the half dozen from the past 2 years). Given she has had a history of mental issues, I am guessing this is going to be a sad phase of her life not one that she looks back and laughs at in 10 years.

Why only do 1 date a night? No reason you can't pack 2 or 3 in.

Ten years ago, if this were a thread about an earlier track star, you would have been holding SFH up as an "ideal" to carry your moralistic projection of female purity. If we learn anything from this whole trumped up affair, it is not to assume ANYTHING about a person's private lives. |

I honestly don't get why people care...what's the big deal? And she's not even very good looking imho. Who cares...it's not your life people do this sort of thing calm down letsrun making this out to be like one of the kardashian sisters |

Pretty much agree with everything you said. Hopefully she can pivot off the unwanted attention and use it to her advantage - most likely a book and/or movie deal. Yes, we are indeed a sexually repressive society that shames people over any situation that invovles sex. SFH is enduring nothing less than what Hester Prynne suffered through in the 17th century. My, how we've progressed. To be perfectly blunt, people should be free to f*ck who and when they want without consequences. |

A Duck wrote First, she really didn't do anything wrong. She was separated from her husband. He knew about it. I am sure it wasn't his first choice, but he evidently gave her the freedom to go find herself / whatever. Wise move. As for Prostitution it should be legal. etc. Anyway, this is more an American story. A story as much about our sexual repression as it is about the tragedy of our Olympic system and the pressure we Americans put on our athletes. We are a stupid and undereducated, provincial, sexually repressed and sex shaming society...with far too many religious wacko's to boot. __ yes, because prostitution is just another choice that we all make. A perfectly valid hobby for a wife and mother of a 7 year old girl. You go girl! Face down the patriarchy! |

This is a very sad story, and not a cliche. When I first started running in 1988, Suzy Favor was my idol. Every girl wanted to look like her, every runner wanted to run like her. She had it all. I saw her at the 1992 U.S. Olympic trials in New Orleans and thought she was so beautiful. Her running form was perect, she was perfect. It just goes to show you that some of us crave that endorphin, adrenalin high. I almsot understand Suzy, and I wish her success in the future. It is sad because of her high profile life, not because of what she did. Something that any of us could have done as just a phase in our lives will forever live with Suzy. |

Yet another excellent example of the characterization in first pargraph.[/quote] __ care to elaborate? We're not talking a woman having an affair here, which is still not acceptable but at least moderately understandable. This is prostitution! A hobby that has not typically been good for the soul. |

An intelligent and critically thinking adult is not going to buy into that nonsense. Sorry, but I don't feel that prostitution is necessarily bad for a society. It's a business arrangement between two consenting adults. The results can be good or bad just like any business arrangement. Nevertheless, I know there is no convincing you. Your either a religious or moral zealot who prides him or herself on self righteous indignation. |

Prostitution has generally been a business that has brought woe to its practitioners. To pretend that it is just like any other business arrangement is to ignore several thousand years of human experience. |
