As a man of faith I do not judge her one bit. Her sins are no worse then mine. My hope is that there is someone close to them that can help them deal with whatever pain they may be in. My sins just have not been put in the media because I am a nobody.
Wow. I don't feel too bad for Suzy-- she's a grown-up, made her choices, and can work through them-- although the history of suicide in the family and now this is pretty scary.
But wow do I feel for her kid. In 2nd or 3rd grade, meaning shortly she'll be entering the gauntlet that is grades 5-8, when kids can be awful. Wearing the wrong shirt can trigger teasing, how about having a mom who's getting paid for sex? Yes, she's not even a B-list celebrity outside of the running world, but you have to assume someone in her class will know, and then everyone will know. I truly hope that kid has a strong personality, and a good circle of friends-- she's going to need both.
sinful? please. She can do as she pleases. She is no more a sinner than me and the rest of you all.

The only thing better would be the NY Post Reported Jeter was a gay male escort and Piazza was his #1.
Who'd you like to come out next?

someone else suggested she has histrionic personality disorder, which makes her need to be at the center of attention - that seems to define our Suzy more than depression - so I think she will go the book/tv route to get more attention.
I mentioned this in the 11th post on the thread, and reiterated subsequently when others were predicting her suicide, etc.
I think the underlying histrionic personality issue was probably very evident from an early age. One of the lessons we can take away from this, as athletes, coaches, and parents (if you are one yet), or as teachers, co-workers, employers, and even boyfriends/husbands, is that this personality trait is often manifested, enabled, and often reinforced by parents, teachers, coaches and others from the outset of its manifestation.
You don't have to watch more than one cross country race to see athletes, typically girls, going all-rubber legged and dropping like flies at the finish line, with no legitimate physiological basis given the prior strides we just witnessed. Everyone treats them like heroes, giving them all the attention, when in fact, it most likely just a purposeful action to deflect failure and and attract attention. A very selfish and self-centered act in truth.
As we saw yesterday, it may at some future point manifest itself in extreme behavior. More often, we may just come to see people like this as drama-queens or kings, and figure them out, work with them as adults, and just dread the stress-related over-reaction to work-related issues. Some of them may become those manic, mood-swing actor types, salespeople, politicians, etc., and focus their need for attention in a productive way.
It appears Suzy has done a little of both, as a realtor (sales, major "ups" and adrenaline rushes in the closing, but imagine the deals that went bad) and now the "escort" business. Depression may be a off-shoot after years of dealing with her own histrionics, but I don't think it is the root cause of her actions. That is probably found in how she first dealt with failure, and how people responded and enabled her responding histrionic behavior.
And, by the way for the "you're wrong" responses, she admitted to this in the video posed above as the reason for her purposeful fall in the 2000 Olympics. And judging her speech and other actions in the same video and others, she certainly displays all the symptoms and signs. I would be surprised this wasn't the psychologist's initial diagnosis, if she actually saw one (as the video implies) years ago, not just straight jump to depression. It would be impossible to miss, if you spent any time with her as a mental health professional.
SFH is not the only track athlete turning tricks to "battle depression." Go to the 2:44 mark in this YouTube video:

i like how on that cover it says "new life, new career" or some such. IF ONLY THEY KNEW.
So if SFH is blaming it on depression, then can Lindsay Vonn be far behind in being an escort? Man, I'd pay top dollar for those two at once..

Used to be large breasts. Her alter-ego website said she wore a 34B bra...
One day Suzy Favor Hamilton went to file her taxes, and for occupation she put prostitution.
The tax collector explained that prostitution was an illegal occupation.
She said she'd have to go home and think about it and that she'd call him back in a hour with her occupation.
An hour later she called him and said, "I've got it... I'm a chicken farmer."
He said, "How do you get chicken farmer out of prostitution."
She said, "I raised over a thousand cocks last year."
Ever heard of Google?

Well, at least we have you guys who are able to diagnose people over the internet.
you don't need to know her up close and personal to figure it out. her examples are blatant.

You certainly have a lot of certitude in diagnosing somebody you have never met. That tells me you are not a clinician.
