No, you're the idiot for disrespecting an Olympic gold medalist and then putting her on par with a State Champion. Seriously? She's been around forever, knows her skill, and I say good for them hiring an alumni. If I was a recruit, hell yeah I'd consider going there to be coached by an Olympic gold medalist.
Just because you were a gold medalist doesnt mean you can coach. You know what was done to make you better but that maynot work for everyone. She should have a soud understanding of training principles. Magic johnson made a terrible coach. She may do well but a gold medal doesnt mean ur automatically a good coach. It means u were a good athlete who had a good coach. I cringe when i hear mo greene trying to coach lol i wish her the best.

They better get someone in there who knows how to close deals. Mick has been awful at that over the years. It'd be a good move if they brought in someone who's younger (30ish), who has strong recruiting ties to the Midwest (IL, IN, MN, OH, MO) and could help with some of the middle distance talent they have.
Gavin Kennedy seems like the man. Him and Mick are good friends.
This would be awesome, hope it happens!

JH is not just another retired athlete coasting into a coaching gig. If her resume didn't have Oly Champ on it, she would still be an impressive hire. Know what you are talking about before spouting...
Agreed.
she got fired
....So the million dollar question is, Why would anyone want to be a coach? If you have learned one thing on this thread it is low pay and NO job security. Asst. Coach forget it. Coach the heck out of your job and get canned when the head coach leaves. Move your family all over the country and spend your life waiting for the other shoe to drop.No thanks.
Homophobic misspelling will not stand!
im just a runner
I read the article, but not sure where it says men's coach. can you confirm somehow?
You obviously don't understand coaching and have no love for teaching the sport. Sorry for you son... It is the most rewarding "job".... Folks in my profession do not consider it work at all. I have never had to work a day in my life after college... Can't have asked for anything better than my college coaching career. In year 24 now and love it as much as ever. We do not get into this for $$ - But... You can make a nice living if you have success and have no worries about job security if you know what you are doing and treat people with respect always. It's no more un-safe than any other career out there. I often feel for people who have to work the mundane 8-5 type of work... I couldn't do it... Been too spoiled now. Cheers :0)

Because there are 1000's of people that love the sport or the idea of it that they will sacrifice everything to stay connected, there are great opportunities out there, but, burning out is almost inevitable, but the shame should be on the athletic directors that take advantage of our work ethic and passion, if only we could have a coaches coalition that fought for equal pay, like a union or something, but, would never ever happen or have a chance of being successful... the fact that head xc coaches get paid less than assistant soccer coaches is sad, especially when they coach both genders, all season, triple the responsibility, and probably 10 times the work.....

In that case, I think the Tiger Dynasty in the ACC will be over.
Clemson is a total rebuilding situation now. After the athletes start leaving mark will start putting it back together. Two years ACC champs again. Four years national champs.
