Any rumors about who Walt Drenth is considering to fill the throws position at Michigan State?
Steve Manz could be a possible candidate. He an MSU alum and is currently coaching at Eastern Michigan.

The school wants to recruit 50 plus kids/year. The coaches didn't do it this past year, so they were asked to leave.
Unreasonable.
Is this a common thing at smaller schools? I know another small college in Illinois that the AD wanted 40 kids a year.
Completely unreasonable before even considering the budgets they are given.
Look for Clemson to follow the same model that Elliot saw work at LSU as he goes away from 3k and up especially on men's side.
He is bringing in some of the former LSU athletes that have been assistants in BCS level leagues so he will have a talented young staff.
wonder who those talented coaches are I can only name two
Althea Thomas (kentucky, Purdue)
Adrian Mann (current Clemson asst)
Who else you got????

Lol hope its better than that
Other Division I schools have tried the "Distance Only" approach. They end up violating the "14 competitors in 6 meets" requirement. Then the AD get the NCAA warning and they end up dropping the programs !
Watch out Robert Gary !!!

Schexnayder or Lane will be home runs. Ole Miss jumps Coach might be a good pick as well as Tennessee Jumps Coach. It does not seem that he get's what he needs at Tennessee.

What do you mean Ole Miss jumps coach (Stringer?). Is he up for a transfer, did he get fired at Ole Miss along with the rest of the staff? Where might he go?

Illinois still searching for a Head Women's Coach correct?

Why doesn't Illinois hire Gavin Kennedy back from Ole Miss? problem solved.
Is there an opening at UNT? Did Burroughs really get the ax?
Marvin from OU, Debbie Ann @ LSU...

It's unfortunately true but is par for the course on questionable decisions made by their head track coach. This is same guy who forgot to declare his sprinter (Clinton Collins) for the Indoor NCAA's, crazy stuff.
Steve Manz, Blake Maag, or John Ridgeway are all possibilities. Manz was former Spartan but Drenth may opt for more impressionable or politically acceptable candidates. No posting yet...
Question is will Debbie leave LSU ?

They'll find some poor schmo to take it. It's a great way to get a head coaching job on your resume.

He did have success through aggressive recruiting.. however, rumour is that is was due to his miss-treatment to athletes along with not getting along with the other coaches on staff.

Hetzendorf from Wichita State would be a good fit at MSU
Blaine Maag has a brother, Blake who also coaches throws.
Who knew?
John Hetzendorf would be a good fit anywhere, btw

So what does this say for the future of the Clemson Men's distance program? School doesn't recruit distance runners and hires a coach that comes from another school that doesn't recruit men's distance runners.
It means run for the hills unless you want to be doing flying 200's in September. Sart transfer inquiries and pray people have scholarship money.
