I think Blu is a great logical choice!

One final note on Kevin and then I say we move on to the job discussion. I know that part of the 10k he spent on gathering evidence to clear his name was he voluntarily gave his phone to lawyers to have them get a computer expert download his entire texting history off the hard drive of te phone. It turned out that the actual, undeleted conversations were nothing like what they were deleted down to. It also showed no prior relationship to any former athlete as his phone record also showed no calls to that athlete while she was on the team. Let's leave the guy alone to pick up the pieces of his life and move on.
His drinking problems were the most damaging to his career and that's what he really needs to get a handle on or he will never get to coach again.
Perhaps his boy at UNI Dan?

Who takes over at Oklahoma ? Who wants to work for Martin Smith at iaState?
That would be a great move for Steele from UNI. Everyone here bashes on Steele for UNI's lack of success, but no one realizes the changes that came down after Bucky left. Budget went from awesome to crap in a matter of minutes when they hired a new AD. Steele can flat out coach, but that situation is nothing like people think!
Steele would be such a great choice for the Sooners. He can coach and manage a staff. I think that I would throw Connie Price-Smith into that discussion.
Holy Crap! $11k a week? I bet they are getting some phone calls.

Here is the deal on Martin - it has nothing to do with lazy or disloyal coaches. He is a great coach but flat out does not inspire his staff to be loyal. In short, he is nuts.
He doesn't want his athletes to take school seriously. Just wants them there to run. No dating? Must be a blast.
It will be interesting to see how long this marriage lasts. How quickly does the ship sink in the women's program. Only time will tell.
Why should he "inspire" his staff to be loyal. His staff should inspire athletes on the team to compete and compete well. Just a question. I wouldn't want the head guy to inspire me to be loyal or do my job. It comes with the title, be loyal to that program and do the best you can while you're there.
I think you're cuckoo for cocoa puffs, pal
I think it's funnier if you say "you must be cuckoo for cocoa pops" because everyone knows it's wrong. Black people have a way of just changing one word of a common phrase and they know the kind of reaction they are going to get in total fun. You just have to have the personality of a good friend of mine that used to say this and made all people laugh isntantly. He'd also say "I'm as serious as seven heart attacks"!!! when asked if he was serious about something. Thanks for the memory and I'll be seeing him tomorrow for the first time in years.
Why is Clemson looking so hard when they have Tim hall right there. He is one of the best sprint coach's in the country and a great recruiter. The program has been successful for all four years he has been there. If it ain't broke don't screw it up by changing it. Hire TIM HALL and let's move on.
i would think that if they were going to hire any of the clemson assistants then they would have made one of them the interim HC. when they pass over the associate head coach to make the dir. of ops the interim guy then you better start looking for another job.
Statement from Joe Castiglione on Oklahoma Track & Field
National Search To Begin For Successor.
June 22, 2013
NORMAN, Okla. – OU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics, Joe Castiglione, issued the following statement Saturday regarding the departure of Martin Smith.
“We express our appreciation to Martin Smith for his efforts in further elevating the standards for our track and field program at the University of Oklahoma,” Castiglione said. “We wish he and Renee the very best. We will begin our national search to find the right individual to continue the tradition of OU Track and Field program that has produced numerous national champions throughout the decades. In addition, the chance to also lead the OU Cross Country program will offer another attractive opportunity for head coaching candidates.”
Do you believe Clemson will bring in a new distance coach through all of this?
Hey, the Clemson job is still open because they offered it to The UCF head coach and she accepted it. Then t the last minute before Clemson made the announcement she saw a better opportunity at USC and took. Now the AD's are having to start all over and are scrambling. FACT!!!
You are so right no coach with any value wants to touch this. The problem at Clemson is bigger than the coach's. I'm sure Tim Hall put in for that position and he has some great asst coach's in place. Wake up Clemson you are going to lose a man that has a incredible résumé.

I hope so. we need to be well rounded. i just dont understand why they are not keeping the coaches who prove to be effective eg: huffins, boswick, hall, Mann. The kids love them, the program proved to be able to move forward through turmoil. I dont understand what are they looking for when we already have it.
Replace the non-scoring coaches so we can round out the program and move forward.
Any word on the UCF job? thanks.
I think the UCF job may be the hidden gem of a program out there right now.
Any chance Boone tries to return to the Sooners?
