Hayes to Ole Miss.
confirm
Just getting started on an agressive search including making several contacts this weekend in Des Moines. Probably won't be something that happens too soon making sure they have a good fit for the university and not just jumping the gun to fill the position. I'd like to see someone who can offer the CC program a shot of confidence right away to keep that going and smart enough to hire good assistants that can recruit AND coach a more balanced effort in track. Tough conference but it really depends on the goals the AD has for the program and if he can find someone to fit the bill this late. Tough sell being the furthest north for track but CC can remain highly competitive with the right person. Indoor facilities are good, outdoor is really lacking but I think there are plans to upgrade to something along the lines of what Missouri has. CC course is pretty good. They've hosted regional and national meets multiple times. Great engineering school.
They should not hire the "big name school" guy if you are referring to Clemson. I am not impressed with the finalists.
i didnt say they should hire that guy but that they probably will. out of those four they should hire the greensboro guy. he's had some pretty good results at a school i never heard of before he got there.
The female will be hired; after the issues with Hadsel (cleared of wrong doing or not) it brought negative attention to the program and the school.
These issues are unlikely to happen with a female coach with a female program (Bev Kearney is the exception).
Since Hadsell was cleared of all the accusations (except the drinking) the athletic department probably isn't so keen on trying to hire a woman to take over the program. The woman that is applying is under-qualified. She has to be a token interview.
How is Coach of the Year "under-qualified"?!
The MAC isn't exactly Big Ten or SEC.
Top runner placing 40th at NCAA Regionals isn't going to cut it at Toledo. I agree she's a token.
Here are a few of the Division I distance jobs that are still open:
1. Clemson
2. USC
3. Iowa State
4. Long Beach St.
5. Akron
6. South Carolina
Toledo women's program is essentially a Big10 or SEC program. It has nothing to do with the MAC. That program competes at a level much higher than the MAC. Being a Coach of the Year in a conference like OVC means nothing when you are talking about taking over one of the top women's teams in the nation. She is so far under-qualified it makes you wonder how piss poor the talent pool of women candidates are in the nation right now.

I don't see Alvernia's job posted anywhere: NCAA, ustfccca, higheredjobs, or Alvernia's HR page. Where did you see it. Alvernia should do everything possible to keep Jason there.

Can someone confirm this?
Don't know if it's true but it's been a strong rumor for weeks now.

There is no opening at Akron.

Pretty big "IF" to already announce a distance opening at Akron.
would make sense considering Domanic decided to stay 2 wks ago. Ironic that the 3 strong TX runners didn't go to UT, but may still end up being coached by the UT coach who couldn't sway them there.
Whats up at UCONN? I have heard a guy from SCSU, a guy from Columbia and guy connected to the program no specifics though? Anyone have any insite?
