2012-13 Patriot League T&F

There are schools in the Patriot League who offer scholarships, but only a couple. It's a murky issue some schools who don't have scholarships but have financial need slots could feel the pinch if the athletic department is having trouble keeping total financial aid even between sexes. Schools with scholarships available and no football team will not be affected and will do fine. (I'm looking at you American) Schools with no scholarships, no financial need slots, no academic slots, no loan, and no work study will not be affected and will continue to struggle. (I'm looking at you Colgate)

In the grand scheme of it all I think things will remain remarkably similar to how things have always been in the Patriot League.

I think you also got to be looking at a couple more distance guys. There are obvious ones Like Reagan of American who had a strong finish to the XC season finishing near the top notch guys of the league toward the end. Also, the Lehigh guys Mueller, Miller, Bernitt, and Mahalsky Had very solid xc season despite the M.A. region didn't go to well. The 3 Juniors from lehigh all put together promising sophmore track seasons too. D.J. Krystek of Bucknell ran pretty solid in track last year. Not sure what happened to him in xc this year but if he is healthy I don't see why he can't put together another solid season.

Dark Horses I think are McGowan (Bucknell) and Gilboy (Lehigh). McGowan has been struggling with injuries it looks like, but if he can get over them he is obviously talented. Gilboy looks like he has been improving steadily from freshman year and was a solid varsity runner for Lehigh this xc season. I think he has more track speed and is ready for a breakout season.

I heard bernitt is studying abroad this semester so he is no longer a factor for indoor/outdoor.

on the other hand, Will volkman runs 4:13 in a time trial yesterday so i would be willing to bet he comes out on top in the mile at patriots

4:13? That's a solid time for this early in the year but thirteen guys ran 4:13 last year, with the top 5 4:09 or under. It's exciting that a Lafayette guy ran that fast but come on man. Betting on him to win that's a stretch. Johnson has run 3:47 and 4:06, and Horning ran 3:52 and 4:11 last year. I appreciate the info though good stuff.

Yes all of those times were achieved in a race against competitors with similar ability. Volkmann ran this solo after a long break. Watch out for him because he is more of a 3k guy than mile guy so with that kind of speed he could potentially be a threat for the 3k. Not to mention mosconi has some talent in the 1k. A title contender for sure.

Also, Navy freshman runs 4:14 early on. Watch out for that ball buster

I can verify this as I was the one to give them all [mushroom] tattoos after a particularly rowdy post xc patriots celebration

Just watched my boy Sammy B throw down an ill 400 repeat workout. There is no way Volkman touches him in the mile or 3k. You heard it here first.

Has Lehigh even started running yet? Some disappointing times coming out of those guys.

PL teams all over the northeast this weekend. American and Navy at Maryland, Lehigh hosting the Angry Birds (is that a track meet? - who's going?) Lafayette headed to Bucknell for the Gulden Invitational. Is that the same guy as the mustard? Colgate at Cornell; Holy Cross at UNH; Army at Harvard? Cornell? Who has been laying in the solid workouts over the semester break? Will we see some of the distance runners come out of hibernation?

Insider sources tell me that Tyler Mueller from Lehigh is out for the entirety of the indoor season and has not run a step since MA-XC. Safe to say he is a non-factor

That would be way too bad Flash, he had a great fall. Ran well at Paul Short and PLC, not to mention M-A Regional. What happened?
