I hope you're not Japanese....or German.
Between this and the "20 poorest countries) thread, it's clear you think about black people a lot
because America is stupid and openly commiting suicide by diversity.

That makes no sense.
Agree. It is certainly reasonable to base our foreign policies on events that occurred over 200 years ago.
I gotta be honest, I don't understand why we are helping them so much either. I mean, we give them a ton of money to help them rebuild while there are plenty of desperately poor people in the United States who could use that money. Charity starts at home.

WE give a ton of money to Haiti?
Then we give a sh&t ton of money to Israel
We give big money to numerous nations. How come we never hear about that when politicians debate spending cuts?
why does the u.s. give money to haiti?
because its the "christian" thing to do. thats why.

It has nothing to do with that.

Wrong. It has everything to do with that.
Take away christianity, and Americans automatically get richer. Every ethnic group and social class would be richer and far more intelligent. Our money and brains wouldnt be going elsewhere.

What's that got to do with Haiti?
Because according to the faction that rules this country, an act is only moral if it doesn't benefit America.
You make a really good point here. But when you study the poor in the U.S., you'll find that it isn't the result of the lack of opportunity. It is laziness and poor choices that made them poor. Recent U.S. immigrants know what real poor is and when they get here they are some of the hardest workers. They progress at a faster rate than the poor Americans who were born in this country because they don't take their freedom and opportunity for granted.
And the world is so interconnected now that it's naive to think their monumental mistakes won't have a negative impact on our society: environmental damage, genocide, weapons...
The safest thing for those in the u.s. to do is NOT to throw money at them, because in many parts of Africa I've read the people expect to be saved by Americans. Instead, we want them to be self-reliant. Education and support for new governments are the two big hitters if we really want to make a difference in this world.
