I haven't read through the whole thread, but I do not believe you've answered a central question I've repeatedly asked you to answer: what makes you so sure you know what the hell you are talking about concerning this topic? Do you have a degree in nutrition? Is this an area you've worked in? What, besides the fact you've read things that *make sense to you* and info that *ideologically is what you'd like to hear* makes you so confident in your assertions??? Because, frankly, if that is all you have, it ain't good enough for me. Yes, I do have an advanced degree in this subject, and have worked in this field. You??

This is completely inaccurate. 1. Saturated fat is completely indistiguishable from any other fat in energy balance. it was wrongly theorized that saturated fat played a role in negative blood lipid outcomes (a charge which has been completely debunked and never had support - Taubes lays out the sordid history of this bad science, among others). Fat absolutely doesb't cause insulin resistance and it is actually carbs that cause many of the outcomes wrongly attributed to fat (owing to what becomes of carbs not converted to glycogen). How do you make foie gras (fatty liver) in geese? Force feed them grains!
"completely inaccurate" my ass. Seriously, you are starting to embarrass yourself, because you have no idea what you are talking about. So my statement that the main causes of type 2 diabetes are: a) an excess calories b) a sedentary lifestyle c) an excess of saturated fat in the diet (and I could have added excess sugar in the form of soft drinks, but the preceding 3 points play a major role all by themselves) all leading to insulin resistance is completely inaccurate?? Hilarious. Gary Taubes???? You are STILL listing him as a reliable reference on this topic?? Gary Taubes is a joke. If there is any "sordid history of bad science" it's the books and op-ed piece written by Taubes.
It's beyond embarrassing for you that you STILL don't seem to get it that force feeding geese or or any other animal FAT will lead to a fatty liver, fatty kidney, and fatty everything. Yes, heavy amounts of excess carbs will get the job done too eventually, just not as fast as fat. (i've never said excess carbs can not be a problem too. that is why I keep saying calories in calories out are 99% of the issue in weight balance).
Look, I am tired of you spouting misinformation based on Gary Taubes the imbecile's idiotic books and op-eds. I am going to reference everyone one of my claims: about calories in calories out, about the causes of type 2 diabetes, about sat fat being particularly bad for one in both its effects on the pancreas and overall body weight (DIFFERENT than unsat fat), about excess carbs turning to fat somewhat less efficiently than excess fat, and about everything else I've written on this thread. I'll be back later tonight. I don't know why I am bothering, because no matter how many references and article I list to prove my point, you'll wave your hand and say....."but, but Gary Taubes...... paleolithic diet......blah, blah" and some other silliness.
(The majority of experts agree with me I guarantee it. Right now you are in the camp with the global warming deniers, the vaccines cause autism crew, and the "polls are skewed against the republicans, Romney will win in a landslide" camp. Yup, THAT is the company you are keeping, a very small group of contrarian "experts". Good luck with that. I wouldn't bet a penny on anything Gary Taubes said, just as I wasn't betting a penny on anything Karl Rove said, and Karl Rove has a lot more experience in his field[politics] than Gary Taubes does in nutrition, which is a big fat ZERO. And look at how correct Rove turned out to be?)
