I think you meant to say that most runners tend to be primarily "ectomorphic," and I would agree with you. People tend to self-select into the sports they're better at. Unfortunately, at least IMO, this tendency towards being ectomorphic is accentuated by the testosterone lowering effects of long-distance running. So you have a double whammy here, which can result in many runners looking like emaciated, pre-pubescent boys. In any case, I don't get the hate towards CrossFit and the personal vitriol towards anyone looking to have an honest debate about this.
