I am sure that this will be blamed on the cancelation of New York but I am still extremely disappointed for Amy. I was hoping that she would end her year on much more of a positive.

I predict that we see many more DNF's from Amy in her future.
Wow Unbelievable

What about Serena Burla and Adriana Nelson. I saw the top ten, which went to 2:33, and they weren't in it.

It was a bad decision for Amy and all of the elite New York refugees to try a 14 day turn around...

I blame the agents who do not understand the sport, but only the money of the sport.

You have to realize that:

a) Amy was hardly even prepared for NYC and probably would have dnf'd there too. You can't do an abbreviated marathon buildup.

b) It has likely been over a month since Hastings, Burla, and Nelson did any marathon specific work. Their coaches should have know better.

Yokohama was the worst choice of all.

One week later? Not ideal, but closer.

Two weeks? A complete dead spot.

One month? Much, much better.

Two months or more? Best option.

Can't do an abbreviated marathon build up? I guess someone forgot to tell Ritz because he had even less time than Hastings to get ready to run Chicago.
California is for medalists

It looks like a lot of athletes are not big enough to make their own decisions. An agents role is to get you a contract for the race that you want to run, not just the largest payday. New York has been bad for many athletes but agents love it.

Ray Treacy's Providence team was in a struggle to try to win the National Championship this fall. Out of loyalty to Alum Kim Smith, he continues to coach her and has taken on a few others that he feels are capable of helping Kim. He took on Amy Hastings as a favor for his buddy Ray Flynn. Ray has nothing invested in Amy and her success is not on his radar.

Amy needs to move to London and get back with Terrence. He understands her better than she understands herself. Hopefully, this disasterous marathon will force the issue.

I'm fairly sure Amy could bring her own drama to the Hudson group. Might fit right in. She has marathoners and track people to train with and nobody to judge her romantic choices.

I could see her fitting in far better with the Hudson group than Hansons. Post above is pretty accurate.

Why does this keep coming up? It is no differen than any other industry.

That is what happens in collegiate track and beyond.

She is actually a very nice person.

this kind of stuff happens with everyone but since the hudson group and amy hastings are professional runners, people feel like they have the right to judge them.

Where is Amy mentally? If she is past her partying days, she should go to Michigan and train with Desi and Neely. If not, she should come join the group in Boulder. Our dysfunctional atmosphere seems to work for us. I will be first to admit that we have more than a few train wrecks, but it just helps keep away the boredom.

A loser is someone who would finish a marathon knowing it could cause an injury that would side-line them for weeks/months.

She should move to Boulder and beg Benji Durden to coach her.
