There had been a post--since deleted?--to the effect that Harvard's junior jav thrower, Hannah Mayer, had blown a knee.
Perhaps the post was erroneous, which could explain its deletion.
So what do you think? Bruno H-R in both relays, and only the open 200? Spooney in 100 and 200?
Cornell has a capable backup guy in the 400 (but then they have a couple such in the 100 and 200). Brown has another likely finalist in the 400.
In any case, Brown isn't in the hunt for a team title, and Cornell is. Realistically, the Princeton guy(s) in the 400 will do very well--based on their relays splits, anyway--so the question is how Cornell can maximize BHR's points while still keeping him healthy and fresh. Their 400 relay has to be looking far beyond Heps this season, which could also affect some decisions.

Huh - so it is gone.
It's also funny - on Wednesday night, the Harvard T&F twitter account had announced they had their Heps lineup ready and were planning to announce it that night, but nothing has shown up. I know one of the asst coaches runs the twitter account, and based on the poster's name of who published the status of Hannah Mayer, I believe they are the same person. Perhaps he wasn't supposed to share the info this close to Heps?
So I was the one who had posted about Hannah Meyer.
I have absolutely no idea how it got deleted. (I'm not the Harvard assistant by the way)

Thanks for your coverage, fun.!
The three relays are going to be important. I took a look at the entries (focusing on Cornell's, naturally) and noticed that--unless I missed something--their 4x8 will have three fresh legs. Makes sense to me: if you have a guy who's in good shape, but not a realistic bet to score (and the Heps 800 has six seed times under 1:50, with four under 1:49), why run him in the heats of the open event?
But every team faces the same overall limitation in squad size, so if you keep some folks fresh for relay duty, others have to carry more of the load, and Cornell certainly has guys doing that. I'd say they're going all-out.
Ditto on the women's side. Yeah, Sorna's down for an incredible triple (10,000, SC, 3,000), but K. Kellner's also down for the three longest races. I've gotta think they're hoping the meet will be in hand by the time the 3,000 comes around, so those women don't have to run a third hard race, but it may still be up in the air. (Meanwhile, their freshman Holmes will do the hept and two open events.)
No Salander for Harvard, apparently. This makes me sad to see, and obviously reduces their chances for a win; but there should still be (at least) three women's teams in it right to the end.
I may get a chance to visit Princeton for at least a part of the meet. Best of luck to all!
We're going to have fun with changing winds today at Princeton. I hope it doesn't result in the pole vault going indoors like it did 3 years ago. But damn, the temperature is perfect!
Follow the meet on twitter - look for the hashtag #oHeps for Hepstrack coverage. The League will be doing their own coverage as well with #IvyTF.
Adam Cotton (H) looked great in his 1500m trials, 3:48.56 (although he kept looking a lot in the last 20m) - makes it to finals. Peter Callahan (Pr) looked good, tried to slingshot off the last turn to speed to front but ended up 2nd 3:46.65 (2nd fastest of day).
Now, how slow will the final be tomorrow in this event?

Been retweeting those as I see them on my twitter feed.
Leakos won't be able to run in the 5k because he didn't complete the 10k.
Yeah, Saretsky was so pissed last night when Leakoes quit with less than 5 laps to go. The coach apparently kicked a chair into the bushes.
But then again, Harvard isn't having the weekend they wanted. Their LJ/TJ missed his LJ flight and now cannot compete in the TJ (it was due to a coaching error - apparently the coach forgot to tell the kid there was a change in his flight time).
All credit to the Princeton men. Cornell didn't have a *bad* Heps; Princeton had a great one. Well done, Tigers. (Meanwhile, in the open 100 the Cornell men lost Bain and Ojukwu, who's ordinarily one of the legs on both their sprint relays.) Princeton just scored huge points in the 5,000/10,000.
Also, though Abbey (rightly) was named Track Athlete of the Meet, I was impressed--maybe thunderstruck--by Sorna's triple: first (SC), second (3,000) and third (10,000, in her debut in the event). I honestly had not imagined she could beat Neer in Sorna's third event of the meet (Neer's second). I think the Cornell women scored no fewer than ten points in any of the four longest races, and they had 20+ in two of them. That's basically the meet right there.
No real dog in the fight, but aren't these conference championships meant to pit equally competitive teams against one another? It's the same thing year after year after year with Princeton and Cornell. Isn't SOMEONE concerned that none of the other kids on the block get a chance to even play the game of winning in the sport of track & field? Boring if you ask me.
Also no dog in the fight (in fact I run in a completely different conference), but to answer your question - no.

Not sure that this answers your question, but I was told that only three teams (of the sixteen at Heps) even entered the max-allowed 36 athletes.
Whether this is a matter of economics (travel/food/lodging), or Ivy colleges' limiting the size of teams, or something else entirely, I don't know. But it certainly seems strange to me that a Harvard, for instance--which certainly seems to have well-supported teams, and is not a small college--couldn't field a full squad.
It's tough to cover all the events *well* even with 36 people--the Cornell teams and Princeton men, who I believe were the complete squads, certainly showed some noticeable holes in their lineups--so if you won't even fill all the slots that are allowed, how likely is it that you can challenge for a men's win?
[I say "men's" because, of course, the Harvard women won indoors this year and the Columbia women did it in 2012.]
As much as anything, I think the Cornell and Princeton men's coaches have a genuine grasp--not just intellectual knowledge but a real gut feel--that every event in the meet offers the same number of points, so they mostly try to get contenders in every event. Come on, only eight guys in the javelin--half of them from Dartmouth?
