Since when were Ian Stewart and Lasse Viren African? Idiot.

Like one poster said about checking out Bill Rodger's running log. Not to mention Frank Shorter, Al Salazar, Greg Meyer and dozens of others who would peak over 200 MPW.
None of these folks ever averaged 200 MPW for an extended period of time. That kind of mielage does not lend itself to injury if done at certain times of the year. Bill Rodgers as well as Frank Shorter had relatively long careers near of at the top.
Today's world of tweets, facebook and web site postings only gets attention for a short period of time.
Bottom line: Hopefully Cam Levins will benefit from the 190 week but he is not in uncharted territory.
O the irony…and yes, what you just did was irony. Who called Ian Stewart OR Lasse Viren African?
whatever he is doing is obviously working.. everyone says hes going to get injured its not like hes going out running all those miles and not doing any side maintenance. although i guess if he doesnt tweet it it never happened... everyones tearing cuz he broadcasts what hes doing.

Also he tweeted
37 miles today! Plus still had time to see "Skyfall" with my girlfriend. #success
Baller.
He is lying, Skyfall premier in Canada did not come out before that tweet. Probably ran closer to 40 miles that week.
Guy is also going to have a very short career. He strikes me as someone who when injuries start to come, will continue to try and log too many miles.
Hey Cam, knock it down to 20 miles/day!
Do some repeat miles.
Come spring, work on the sprint.
You'll rule.
Good luck.
I'll send you an invoice.
Whats your pr? Last time I checked Levins made the olympics which maybe only less then 1% of the population can say they accomplished. Good for him for going for it.

What makes you say this? I honestly do not know but has Cam suffered any serious injuries while running in college?
As others have pointed out in this thread, both Rogers and Shorter would hit huge mile weeks and they both had pretty long and successful careers.
Lol @ 1%
Try .001%, maybe
Dude has a girlfriend. Flippin' Sweet.

You should learn more about Cam Levins before you make things up about him. In an interview with flotrack he discusses how he immediately will take as many days off as he needs at the first sign of injury in order to make sure he does not get serious problems. Some people...
He's probably like 99% of runners who always overstate their mileage since they swear they run super fast all the time. It's probably closer to a 150-160 mile week. I'd love to know how much time he spends running per week. But whatever, running is a mental game anyways, so if you think you are running 190 mpw, then good for him!

99% of runners
9.9 out of every 10 way overestimate their mileage
can't believe it
what a fraud this guy is!

Only 160 more a week to match Gail Young!! lol
Actually he is probably behind his yearly total goal and is trying ot catch up.

why on earth is he running that much?
was 150 not cutting it anymore?
christ
you'd have to think the quality work isn't that high
*Your* attitude is disgraceful.
Save the bashing for guys who don't work for it. Sure you have the right to critique Levins' mileage. But show some respect for his amazing work ethic. And if he can handle the mileage, then why not go for it instead of blending with everyone else & wondering what if. Plus, it's November- Who cares about quality at this juncture?
You sound like a cult member LOL. "You need to learn more about XXX before you make things up".
BRAH we don't need to know about his magic beans to know he will get injured on this stupid plan.
CAM for the sake of the children (of letsrun) PLEASE don't be so crazy.
Good point. He is full of carp and just trying to be the big man on campus by making up tall tales about his mileage claims. Take your magic beans elsewhere Sam Levins!
It's too bad Cam is Canadian. If he were American he would be hailed as a hero by now.
Of course, if he were Kenyan-born he would hardly enter discussion so there's that.
Say NO to BS kids! wrote:

I was more refuting the guys claim that said he is the type of guy to run through an injury and make it worse when Cam himself has clearly stated that he tries to avoid doing just that. See where paying attention can get you! While I'm at it I think it's a good general practice for any subject in life to educate yourself on that subject before you make claims. You can't make random assertions based on the limited knowledge you have of a runner. It's not like I said "There is zero chance Cam will get hurt, he has a plan so get with the program idiot!!." I just stated that in an interview with Cam Levins said that he takes time off when he feels an injury coming on to hopefully avoid it.
