An oft injured animal!!
Looking back 4 years it's pretty obvious huge mileage killed his career.
Sad story indeed

I wouldn't quite say so.
His mileage has been drastically reduced since joining NOP. He does comparable mileage to Galen and Mo.
In 2015 he was able to run 27:07 for 10,000m, an indoor mile in 3:54 and 28 minutes later run an indoor 2 mile in 8:15.
Not to mention, in May 2016, just over half a year ago, he was able to run a new personal best over 800m, in 1:49.7 in the middle of a full training week, with no taper.
In early 2016, less than 1 year ago, he ran 7:45 indoor for 3000m.
I would say he is far from having a 'dead career,' but just had an injury as most people do.
cam should grow his hair out and be malcolm gladwell for halloween.
I was just reading through this post and thought it relevant to bump it back up.
Way to go, Cam.
190 miles/week and 2.10 marathon...meh
Interesting to look back on this thread. His 2012 season was something of legends.
For posterity.
By improving the quality.
Are you the North American marathon record holder?
Yes.
To much bro science in T&F. Let's put all 18 year old college athletes and all 18 year old pros through something similar to N.F.L. combine activities. That would give us a baseline. Have all 30 year old pros do the same N.F.L. combine type activity, pro golfers, pro tennis, N.H.L. guys, everyone. We would find out without debating what high mileage does to gals & guys sprinting speed.
