I bet they are. They are about to race and a guy is cleaning the bathroom. Pretty funny/sad.

Hats off to Mitch. Runners can be entitled arrogant jackasses. I bet if the toilets were messy-the runners would complain about that too. Mitch has a tough job-and probably makes barely enough to eat and keep a roof over his head.
I swear, I'm about done with this site. I used to think it was sometimes amusing-but it's clear the OP has never had a lousy job in his life-otherwise he wouldn't make fun of a janitor. Mitch is a human being too-and deserves some modicum of respect. I suspect he is given a list of jobs to get done. Perhaps the race manager should have coordinated bathroom cleaning schedules when he rented the park?? Mitch does not deserve meanness and disrespect when he is just doing his job.
My hometown has a series of summer races-both running and mountain biking-brings in thousands of people and a lot of money to a rural Colorado town. Yet there is a serious movement afoot to reel these races in because the spandex clad people are so obnoxious. Ever have someone take a dump in your yard? That's the biggest complaint people have in Leadville. If that's not entitled and arrogant, I don't know what is.
In the defense of those taking the dump, many of those who get angry at runners taking a dump or urinating on their land will take Fluffy out for a walk that evening and during the walk will take a dump on somebody's land. When their dog does it, it is cute. When he sees a runner do it, he calls law enforcement.
Plus, at most races there might be one port-a-loo for every 100 runners. Renting additional loos would cut into the profits so only the minimum number of loos is obtained.
The janitor should appreciate the fact the Los Angeles and San Diego won 18 track and field medals at the 2012 London Olympics. 17 were won for the United States or 1/3 of the 50 medals won by the US. This is not a fluke either. Los Angeles and San Diego have domninated the Olympic Games , college sports, and professional sports for over 100 years.

Why should he give a crap about that? Maybe he doesn't care about the Olympics, or track and field. Hes a janitor!
When runners pay their entry fee, they are paying for use of the park. In doing so, they are paying for use and cleaning of the bathrooms. If this gentleman is having conflicts with people who are attempting to use the facilities, perhaps he should pick a better time to clean.
Conference centers alter their cleaning schedules to fit the event in progress. A park can certainly do the same.
360 days a year of sunshine makes San Diego the #1 training center for running in the USA. Mexcians like Alberto Salazar, Carlos Rey, Jesse Ventura, and Tomas Cruz should educate the 99% with those facts.
[quote]If I’m in here cleaning, and they want to use the facilities, I’ve had women throw water at me from their bottles. I just avoid ‘em now. If there’s bunch of ‘em around, I wait till they leave./quote]
Strange he would walk into a restroom full of women to clean it. Great thinking, "wait till they leave", way to figure it out.
Sports is the #1 industry in Southern California followed by #2 illegal immigration. Those Mexican janitors should appreciate it when world class elite runners are in there prescence.
I get ticked off when I stop at the gas station at 3 in the afternoon and the restrooms are closed for cleaning. It would be a little more inconvenient if they were closed right before a race. I think the more important issue is why the janitor doesn't know the schedule of events that are happening and when the restrooms need to be open.
+1

Thanks Rojo.
There were Port-A-Pottys at the start line both years with no janitor needed so either the story is a fictional account or the writer is a total retard and a puss.
In either case Dago should be the permanent site for USA Cross Country and NCAA Cross Country since the weather is wonderful, it has an airport serviced by Southwest Airlines, and many of us made it into a 2 weekend winter vacation.
Salazar is Cuban not Mexican..
I take it that reading comprehension isn't your strong suit? Let me help you:
If I’m in here cleaning
This means that the janitor is in the rest room cleaning, it does not indicate that any women are in there prior to his arrival.
and they want to use the facilities
This means that the women have arrived AFTER THE JANITOR WAS ALREADY THERE, in order to make use of the facilities.
I hope this has helped, but I'm not confident that it will, as you appear to be suffering from terminal stupidity.
Cubans are Mexicans. Cuba and Mexico are only 50 miles apart.
