That's just splitting hairs. Those people should be out helping the affected area
They are still using energy as well of course you don't really put enery back on a flooded house but that's the argument the morons were using. Using up the police was a valid concern but you could have replaced most of those positions with volunteers
The real reason is that if these games were not cancelled the millions of lard asses who watch these games would complain
Our club recently held a half marathon with 4,000 runners on a Sunday morning. The organiser has had to go to all sorts of council meetings to see if it would be allowed to be run again next year due to objections or concerns about a couple of roads being closed
Last year the whole area was a riot zone while most of the police did or could do (because their hands were tied) nothing
Anyone stupid enough to pay $260 or $370 to run has limited sympathy from me but its the principle of the authorities stopping lawful activities
If I'd just lost my house I'd would hardly bother if some runners went past it. I notice none of the actual victims were complaining
