I was looking at results for Sarah Baxter's race at Mt. SAC and noticed that her team also placed second in the race. Since she won by 80 seconds it seems reasonable that her performance should be worth more than a one-second victory that would have also been worth only 1-point. Just like having Lebron on your high school team should be worth more than having your average high school basketball player in that position.
The most objective way to score a team performance would be to use total team time wouldn't it? That way all the individual performances contribute equally to the total score and the results wouldn't changed based on the size or depth of the meet.
