I was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my second metatarsal some time ago with an MRI. It never really hurt when I was running, just when I was barefoot. I took 8 weeks off and it was still injured, and now I have worn a boot for 8 weeks and am holding off running for a few more weeks.
At this point I haven't run in a long time and I don't want to delay coming back even longer by starting too soon and re-injuring it. However, I don't really know how to tell if it is healed. Are there any quick and dirty tests to tell? It doesn't hurt walking around barefoot or a shoe right now, but it never hurt doing that before either so I don't know how good of an indicator that is.
So basically, any advice from people who have had similar injuries would be much appreciated.
