This guy was already first ballot Hall of Fame before this season started, and now at age 38 he is leading the league in hits with 215 going into the last game of the season.
He is currently 10th overall in hits and just 327 away from 4th place, a number that could be achieved in two more seasons.
He's just 211 hits away from 5th place.
I really hope he never cheated in any way. He now has 8 seasons with 200+ hits and 12 seasons with .300+ batting average.
There always has to be a few writers who won't vote for ANYONE on the first ballot, but how can Derek Jeter not get 100% votes for the Hall of Fame on the first ballot? No one in their right mind would decide not to vote for him.
