I have a degree in education and I don't think I plan on being a teacher. What other jobs are available that I could do with a degree in education?

In 45 States an education degree can certify you to fly a commercial airliner, try that!
Assistant manager at Burger King, which could open the doors for the Applebees training program.
I like to call it the B.K. Lounge
Maybe something in the policy side of education.
Pizza delivery is always a solid choice.
I taught kindergarten for three years after graduating. I had to relocate with my husband in the middle of the school year and obviously there were no full-time openings.
I started working as a nanny and it's not so bad. The worst part is not having adult conversation or feeling like a 'professional'. The pay is a little less but not too much less. I worked in a very tough city school with extremely needy children and worked about 55 hours a week. It was so draining and at times I felt unsafe. Nannying isnt a very glamorous job but I work less and don't have to bring work home. You can get cool perks like getting to go swim with the kids at the country club instead of sitting in a cubicle.
From what I understand, at least at the high school/middle school level, teachers need duel degrees in education and their subject. What job can you get with a math degree?
Textbook publishing? Textbook selling?
Corporate training?
A friend I know stopped being a teacher and went into selling online corporate education workshops to companies. Seems like a good gig mostly working at home.
Sales? If you are good at communication and talking with people, this could be a good money maker.
Other than that, anything that you could get with any other non-specific degree.
People with degrees often get jobs in areas outside their degree field. I have a friend who has a biology degree--she works for a large insurance company.
Elementary teachers have Ed degrees, secondary ed (HS & Middle school) have degrees in their subject field, and they take education classes in order to get their teaching cert.
So your typical 5th grade teacher has an Ed degree, while your high school English teacher has either a major or minor in the subject area.

1) What is your area of expertise? That makes a difference.
2) Would you consider teaching jobs that aren't just public school teaching? There are always corporate trainer jobs...I did that for a while. IF you are of a salesman mold, you could do that. Any job where you have to adequately explain things would be good...technical writing, consulting, etc.
Work at a university! As an academic advisor, admissions, etc...
If you work for any public school long enough, you don't need to teach or administer and you can be guaranteed your full salary, benefits as well as a pension. Nobody can touch you as long as you tow the line and do the bare minimum of showing up each day. It's really a steal (from the taxpayers).
Sadly, there are a lot of employment opportunities related to all the testing madness in the US education system. You can go to work for the companies that write standardized tests, the test prep providers, and tutoring companies. Then, there are piles of non-profits and think tanks out there that do work on analyzing methods, equity issues, and so on. Finally, there is education administration. With all the testing and federal programs, administration jobs in education have grown significantly recently. My kids' district is always pulling some of the better teachers out of the classroom to go into administration.
Outside of the education field, you would need an advanced degree to leverage your teaching qualifications. Corporate trainers get paid well and an Ed degree plus a masters in HR can get you into that sort of work.

and yet we need more money for education....
to the OP: I have a Masters in Education. it's a stupid degree. my wife does too--total nonsense, all based upon theory that can change with the trends. I work in the automotive marketing world and make a modest income.
to the high schoolers out there: don't go to a 4 year, it's a complete waste of time and money. go to community college and get a decent trade (realtor, mechanic, accounting etc). you'll become self-sufficient if you're good and have a good work ethic.

You are app. a half a dozen multiple choice tests away from being a full-service Financial Advisor. It's very similar. Seminars in front of 15 to 300+ individuals. One on one tutoring.

How exactly do you get a degree in education and not plan on being a teacher? At what point along the way did it not occur to you to change majors? Lol.
Signed,
A veteran teacher
Get a Master's and be an administrator.
