x5 for sure. Cayennes are dumb, Q5s are aight. |

The X5 and Q5 are relatively good competitors. I think the Audi looks a ton better, but that's subjective. I think the Audi also has better engines, efficiency wise, and starts cheaper. But if you're already a BMW guy, the choice is pretty clear. The Cayenne isn't in the same league as these two. There's no X7 and the Q7 is a Cayenne class vehicle. |

I'm holding out for the Lotus SUV. In the mean time I hear Range Rover is going to put out a roadster. |

I drive a BMW, as does my wife. Her parents and brother also do, including an X5 for her dad. That being said, I think the Audi Q5 is pretty damn nice. |

Porche tends to poorly supply the US market. You may face a wait list for a Cayenne. The SUV and Sedan have been hard to get. 911 is constantly wait listed. x5 and Q5 are a toss up in terms of quality. Both can be equipped to the gills with everything and anything and have monster engines that will blast you on to the highway, if that is your thing. But, the x5 is just way better looking than Q5. The only problem is that they are the SUV of choice for rich families now. You may end up having someone else's kid jump into your car when you pick up your kid at soccer practice. |

Audi has gotten bad ratings in crash testing as of late. Something to consider. |

My mom has a Q5, it is a VW Tiguan for two times the price. The radio/climate/navigation controls are very poorly laid out and hard to use. The nav is so cumbersome that it is effectively useless. I would bet the Rav4 S beats all three in just about every category, including price. I dont't get the appeal of German cars, whatever. |

While they look marginally similar, none of those are really direct competitors, save maybe the Cayenne and x5, nor do they sell in the same ballparks. Why not Q7? And are you looking for a nice looking car, or a nice looking, high(er) performance car? They're very, very different things. Some things to consider: -Unless you just like looking at a car (vs. driving it), there's not much point in getting a porsche unless its an S or really a Turbo S. That, however, might double the price of the car. I personally wouldn't get any of the entry level base models of any of these brands, because you find yourself paying for a brand but not getting much for performance or luxury. -Audis drive quite nicely. I'm not as familiar with the SUVs, but the sedans and coupes are really nice, stick to the road, and have peppy engines for what are usually small vs. BMW or Merc. That said, everything short of a loaded A8 is lacking for luxury. You get Honda interior quality on a well driving car. -That leaves BMW. I think the do a good job with putting some luxury into a well performing car, if you care about the latter. |

I just went through a similar decision-making process. I've owned BMWs (which I loved) and Porsches (911 and Boxster), but wanted an SUV. I love the look of the Audis, I like the X-5s, and the Cayenne S was a good compromise between car and SUV. In the end, however, I went with the Acura MDX and couldn't be happier. The thing has room for 7, has plenty of HP, and has a reputation for being super reliable. I got it in black and it looks about as manly as an SUV can. |

Sounds like whatever you choose aside from the BMW would have to out-drive the BMW which can be a tough comparison. In my city black BMWs and X5 X3 are almost dime a dozen. For something resembling niche I would go with the Cayenne which underwent significant retooling for '12...lighter, more powerful, more roomy interior. I personally do not like SUVs at all though. Take a look at the Panamera when at the Porsche dealership!! |

Don't buy a f*****g luxury SUV. If you're going to buy a fancy, high-end car, please get a 3/5 series or an A4/5 or a Cayman. God know why someone would want to get an amazing sports car like what BMW/Audi/Porsche makes, and jack it up 6 inches into the air. These things handle like boats compared to their more grounded cousins. Waste of money. You're paying for the brand alone. Buy a cheap, well made SUV to do your dirty work and get a car that will actually drive with the extra cash. |

A Dacia Duster should put you back about $10,000 in the USA. What more do you want? http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/2012-dacia-duster-1-6-review/263613 |
