I assume she is a high school runner? Looks like she ran 4:43/10:12 for the 16 and 32 as a sophomore, so could be within the realm of possibility.
good time, but not mindboggling. some XC courses are faster than track races. If its a challenging course, then definitely impressive.
On second thought, a minute ahead of the other girls. Definitely an exciting accomplishment.
She would have placed 36th in the boy's race. A 36th place finish is good for even a guy in a competitive race. She is the real deal.
Best thing about it is that she looks healthy too:
Much healthier than Amber trotter looked.
her bio list her as 5'10. she is tall like paula radcliffe.
Yeah, but a boy in the jv race ran 1:00.14 That is much more impressive!!
Another thing, this is Washington state, so its kinda hilly on most of their courses. Truly impressive time.
The winning guy ran 4:10 for the 1600 meters during track season and sub 9 3200.
Yeah, and she is a citizen of GREAT BRITAIN!
Kamiakin High School looking pretty strong.
Seattle Prep didnt have their #2 running Keenan Piper, but even with him, there was no way they couldve beaten the Kamiakin Braves! Are they a top team in the Nation?
This year is shaping up to be one of the best ever for girls!!
Defending national champion Sarah Baxter will be challanged heavily by Neal, Mary Cain, Ali Cash, Hanah Meier, Katie Knight, Erin Finn, Julia Bos, Jillian Fanning, Ashley Erba, Alexa Afraimson and many more!
The times overall were fast for the college had high schools considering this was not big invite, state or national meet. However, the times were not crazy fast; I suspect the course was either short or fast. The one thing you can always look at is the times from the previous year and the spread from 1st the 2nd, which suggest this was an outstanding run no matter how you look at it.
TrackCoack, are u also tinman, the guy who used calculus to make all sorts of running formulas? How do you measure the spread mathematically?

Damn that is impressive. They need to move this kid up to varsity or something.
That course is just short of a 5k. 4922 meters to be exact, and lightning fast. Still a hell of an effort. It was fun to watch.

You sure it wasn't 4923?

Freakin' positive.
The second place girl who she beat by a minute is a 4:57/10:46 runner. Definitely a legit performance. Neale is a gamer...dinged up a bit in track this past season, but always up there at Nationals. Looks like she's ready for a big senior year.
She reminds me of Katie Flood. Powerfully built, great blend of speed and endurance. I wonder if she'll stay in state and go to Washington.
