Lance will still race before YaHey ever does.
At least an organization with some balls, and I am talking about the Chicago marathon
Who is Lance?
I think it's a good start. Hopefully it will clue people in on what the whole Lance thing means if there are any people who don't get it yet. RW reaches a lot of the people who might (I assume) blindly accept Lance's statements based on his Livestrong work and continue to support/defend him. In a way RW and race organizers are consensus makers regarding their core audience.
I think it's a bad start. Hopefully it will clue people in on what the whole USADA witch hunt thing means if there are any people who don't get it yet. RW reaches a lot of the people who might (I assume) blindly accept USADA's statements based on the claims of know liars and dopers, and continue to support/defend the USADA. In a way RW and race organizers are ignoring that no drugs tests were ever failed. They are instead scarred Travis Tygart will de-sanction the Chicago Marathon and all the race results since the inception of the event.
John Conley, one of the Livestrong marathon directors, was quoted in the article as saying “It seems a little over the top to pursue him beyond the cycling arena to me."
I tend to kind of agree with this. I'm not upset about the decision. I think it showed a lot of guts and a willingness to stand up for something; however, I don't see the point in some ways. Livestrong does a lot of great work, and any time Lance can garner up money/support for the company, I would think that would be a good thing. Right?
I mean, it's not like he was going to win the Chicago marathon. And there are probably a few ex-drug users/alcoholics/convicts who are running the marathon. Probably not the best comparison, but why punish Lance to this extent? I'm not saying I don't agree with the decision, and I'm definitely not saying I support Lance's alleged drug use, but at the same time, I just really question the need to keep him out of the marathon.
It is sanctioned by USATF and therefore a party to the WADA code. This is not really surprising.

BAA and NYRRC DQed him the day after the USADA decision was announced.

The WADA code applies to all sanctioned events by Olympic sports bodies. So Lance can't run USATF sanctioned marathons and he can't compete in WTC triathlons. The great news for Lance supports is that he can go play baseball, football, or basketball since MLB, NFL, and NBA are not signatories to the WADA code.
Thanks, despite his PR machine and zombie like fanboys trying to spin everything, I am glad the major marathons do not want him.

I think John Conley's statement is a Freudian slip and an admission of guilt.

Why would he even try to enter? I'm not being intentionally obtuse (although I am a bit mentally challenged), but I really don't get it... why try to enter?

"Because I want to spend more time with my family."
Chicago marathon and Carey are a bunch of lowlife thugs. They weren't getting any attention because all the US OLY runners were doing NY this year. so they had to put out this Gem.
I wouldn't be surprise if lance didn't even want to enter Chicago.
I'm pretty sure Chicago has had it's share of runners on PEDs run it's races.
Exactly, Carey is a useless turd in the sport. Clearly this was a grab for attention. Chicago is a second class marathon anyway.

Well, the fact that he attempted to enter it seems to argue against you.

Looks like the livestrong interns have new marching orders with today's annoucement.
Or people who think the Chicago Marathon is just trying to get attention. Carey P. is simply an attention whore.

Don't cry, if he really wants to he can simply enter using his pseudonym Juan Pelota.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
