Ryan Hall spent his collegiate career in the wrong events. A miler in HS, he only reluctantly ran the 5k in college. When he moved to the roads post-collegiately, the results were spectacular. His younger brother, Chad, was a Foot Locker champ in HS. He went to Oregon as a frosh and ran 14:11 in 2008 but transferred out to UC riverside. He also seemingly focused on shorter events as 2010 he ran 3:45 for 1,500. His 5000 pb is still 14:11 (only ran 14:39 in 5000 this year) but this year he did run the 10k (29:54) where he was the Big West champ. He's been training with his brother. Any chance that the Foot Locker champ title starts to re-emerge? |

This Hall never ran 13:15 in college. |

The fact he's training with Ryan, whose career has worsened since self-coaching (don't even argue) leaves me pessimistic. |

Why hasnt Ryan Hall been put in a mental institution? |

He's a less talented stoner version of his brother who at the present moment is a complete nutjob. I wouldn't bank on many good things happening for chad. |

They should both carpool to a small town north of Boston and knock on Bill Squire's door. Beg him to coach them for 1 year and let the chips fall where they may. |

It would be cool if Ryan ran based on god, and Chad ran based on Satan. |

I don't know what his time was but I was there and I can tell you he wasn't in the top 10 or 15, so over 62 is the most specific I can offer. After that I went to try and chase down and talk to some of the elites who had finished haha. |

Why do so many people run a 1 min + positive split on this course? Is it that much tougher second half or do people just go out too fast there? |

The second half is pretty tough. Most years along the water there is a stiff head wind at mile 7. Then around Mile 10/11, there is a steady climb. There is a really beneficial decline afterward though and long flat finish. A full minute difference is a bit much, as you can easily pace it better. But 1min isnt too bad. Anything more that 90sec would mean too fast a start. |

Chad will re-emerge once Ryan's coach begins mentoring him. |
| What the heck |

Why in the world would folks spend time thinking about Chad Hall? He was a mediocre college runner. He will never make it as a pro runner. I hope that he is taking strong steps toward beginning a real career outside of running. He is Ryan Hall's brother? OK, so? |
