I'm on a boat.
So, they were in the middle of a competition and they just decided to bring a passenger along for fun?
How are we supposed to take this "sport" seriously?
White might can't jump and brother's can't sail/swim?

It's a promotional / marketing / sponsorship thing. There's plenty of room and it doesn't affect the performance of the boat or crew as long as they don't get in the way.
I saw it happen. He was scrambling from starboard to port at the stern and appeared to essentially just run off the netting into the water.
Love the skipper's comment.
"He yelled out. I think he was expecting me to come back, but there was no way I was coming back."

Don't give me that jibberish.
He was going from left to right at the back of the boat.

I think he was actually crewing, he wasn't just a passenger. At least that is what ESPN reported. For the lesser tasks on the boat I think you can be fairly quickly trained to perform them under direction during the race. Things like "turn that crank" and "pull that rope", only one or two people really have to know the big picture. I think it was funny he was running when it happened, but good for him he was trying something new.

Starboard to port would be right to left.
Starboard is right, and "jibberish" is gibberish.
serves him right for that bullsh*t stunt in 1997 vs. Donovan Bailey.

Johnson claimed to be the fastest man in the world (based on his 200m time). Bailey held the unofficial official title of world's fastest man (based on his 100m victory). Challenge match set up at 150m. Johnson pulled up "lame" midway through the race. Many thought that he pulled up because he was getting his doors blown off by Bailey.
End of Story.

I just read an article in Wired about Larry Ellison's plan to bring the America's Cup to a wider TV audience. He wants to make it a popular sport. So he set up a series of races with smaller 45 foot boats to drum up interest ahead of the main event. Another reason for that is because the boats are incredibly hard to sail. They were hoping for about 15 teams but could only get 7. Sailing this kind of boat is totally different. They are huge and fast. They have a fixed wing sail. Their are only a handful of teams that can handle sailing them.

I'm pretty sure he was legitamately cramped. Was happy to see Donavan win though.Fun at the SkyDome.
Depends whether you're looking from bow or stern.
