When, if ever, will there be a Black Olympian in an event over 1500? Born and raised in U.S., not imported. |

Fun fact: Jackie Robinson's older brother was the silver medalist in the 200 meters at the 1936 Olympics. |

Concerning your subject question: I would say Galen Rupp fits the analogy. Jackie was eccentric because he was the first "negro" in the Major Leagues, similarly, Galen Rupp was the first Caucasian to win an Olympic medal among the African League. |

OP's strange way of asking the question is taking away from the interesting fact that there has not been an American-born black male(I didn't research the women) in an Olympic long distance event since 1968. The latest one I could find was Lou Scott who competed in the 5000 meter in 1968. |

It is not the same because distance running is dominated by black men. |

Elias Gedyon was Olympic material. Not sure what he's doing now. |

if you meant modern era, why would you use jackie robinson? Ted Corbitt is the closest you will find to a "Jackie Robinson" of long distance running. The color barrier has been broken, so nobody can be Jackie Robinson in the modern era. |
