Prediction: 1:43.1
He didn't close that fast, just a 53,5, only 38,7 last 300 and 26,7 last 200. Maximum what he can get is 1:42,9x
Will be tactical. 1:45.15.

Not quite right. His last lap was 52.8 and last 300 was 39.3, but I agree with your sentiments. Ventolin believes that shows 3:24 ability!! LOL
1:40.89
1:38.54
My patented 380m kick will again carry me to victory.
It wasn't the closing speed per se, but rather the way he handled a couple 3:29 guys and the way he did it with EASE. The dude wasn't running hard.
Maybe it was that weak of a field. I remember El G and Lagat closing in 1:46? for the final 800 when El G won. That is insane.
But perhaps this guy could have done the same if 2 guys in the field were doped rather than 1.
1:43.25
I keep compulsively checking LRC to hear that Mak is gone - oh please let them catch him if he is guilty.
He's getting worried, Crammy has him spooked. He's gonna sandbag it and only drop a ow 1:42
i reckon 1'43.0 is fair value for him
however a 1'42.7/1'42.8 woudn't be out of the question
split the difference
i'l go for 1'42.9 if his form hasn't deteriorated
well
past experience has shown me that when "these" guys run superb in a champs, soon after in euro meet, it often deteriorates
the classic example is actually from sprinting
in '01, kenteris ran a dominating 20.04 to win gold ( 20.03 cruising in semis )
he was in 19.8 shape if he had needed to run it ( did so next year )
19.8 back then was huge deal in post-michael johnson days - guys were struggling to get even close to 20.0
then just 8/7 later in zurich, when 19.8 was expected ( maybe even a 19.7 ) he ran like a has-been for 3rd in 20.28 behind bernie williams 20.19 ( didn't get selected for champs ) & malcom in 20.24 who he had crushed in edmonton
his "mojo" had gone in just over 1 week & lost at least 1/2s over his 200 speciality
one of the most extreme example of losing one's "peak" in such a short time as i can ever recall...
Another example: Jenny Simpson from last year. Wins World Champs, struggles hard in a couple Diamond League meets. But then somehow rebounds to win the 5th avenue mile. Strange stuff...

difference
simpson at her best is 3'59 ( & not much to come off that currently ) which isn't particularly awesome when others currently go 3'56/3'57
if all ran their best in a euro race you woudn't expect her in top-5 at her peak
Coach here, biding my time as I fill out my suspension.
Coach says, "Makhloufi? More like Pooploufi!"
Solomon might win this race, possibly in AR time. Depends how the pacing goes.
Didn't he say in the BBC that he may need surgery after the 1500m for an injury??????
to his opposable digits, as they twisted the transfusion bag hosel too much from 3'28 to 3'26 flow
