What a crapper for the US distance program. No golds, only 2 medals. Embarrassing as hell. I'm so ashamed at how the US distance runners wimped out again.
They were top five in like five other events! There are only three medals, I thought the US did a great job.
I completely disagree. Looking back at the olympics start with the 800. Two americans in the final and both set new PB. Not long until the AR goes down. 1500 meters we get the silver medal as well as a narrow miss with the bronze. 3K steeple we take 6th and 8th with both of these guys being fairly young. Americans in the steeple look promising for years to come. 5K lagat got tripped up with 100 meters to go if he had not been tripped I would put money on him to medal. Yes galen looked flat but still medaled in the 10k. Getting silver in the 10k says it all.
All this being said you are a complete idiot that needs to keep his opinions to himself
only the top 3 medal. the rest are could ofs, should ofs, and would ofs.
11 is nearly twice 7 is it?
Zero means Zero
The USA won Zero distance golds in London
the last distance gold at a major was Jenny Barringer of Colorado at 2011 Daegu WC

I laughed.
ugh. 6th place for the USA? what a flop.
third place if you just count the men
oops, 5th, not 3rd - forgot to look at the international powerhouses of uganda and algeria......
Who was expected to win gold from the USA? Names please....
If you score the meet for men's 800,1500.steeple,5K,10K,marathon
10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1
Score
66 KEN
46 USA
31 ETH
21 GBR
11 MAR
10 ALG
10 UGA
etc...
IN 2008 The USA Men 800-Marathon would have scored ZERO points
going from zero points to 46 in 4 yrs is VERYYY GOOD!
shut up naysayersss
please, everyone, stop feeding the trolls
I don't get how more of you don't realize this was the US men's best distance performance in over 20 years. Did you just forget that we usually are terrible?
Since when were total medals > golds? From what I've seen medal tables usually go in order of golds, then silvers, then bronzes. Also, since when was 11 nearly double 7?! Do Kenya really care about 5 bronze medals?
Ethiopia - 3 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze (7)
Kenya - 2 Gold, 4 Silver, 5 Bronze (11)
Russia - 2 Gold, 2 Bronze (4)
GBR - 2 Gold (2)
Turkey - 1 Gold, 1 Silver (2)
Uganda - 1 Gold (1)
Algeria - 1 Gold (1)
USA - 2 Silver (2)
Botswana - 1 Silver (1)
France - 1 Silver (1)
South Africa - 1 Silver (1)
Tunisia (?) - 1 Silver (1)
Morocco - 1 Bronze (1)
Brunei - 1 Bronze (1)

You got it. Too many guys in this message board get caught up in the NBC if you don't medal you failed thought process.
The truth- we had finalists in every event. Three guys qualified for the 10,000. We were part of every race- not just spectators from the back.
We have come a long way.
