I think a lot of people are forgetting about all those kenyans and ethiopians who ran fast marathons this year. i think they're chillin out makin scratch on the streets rather than messing around with track.

The Olympics come once every four years, man, you can't give up a chance to make some serious history. He did make history in the 10k, but 2 medals would have been phenomenal. Young, fit, confident, he had to run the 5k. I agree he seemed to have heavier legs in the 5k, though. Mo didn't, obviously. He's got to learn even more from his mentor. He has time. And I think the competition was stronger in the 5k, for sure.
Rupp will be 30 in Rio. My guess is he will have moved to the marathon by then. He may take a shot here soon, though I'd like to see him devote another couple years to lowering his PRs.

Mo is the greatest tactician we've seen in a while. He's ALWAYS in front going into the final 100m, usually the final 400m in fact. Just that one fluke 10k in Daegu, which wasn't really his mistake, but besides that, the guy has phenomenal racing instincts. And a ton of talent, obviously. The guy is a total class act, so you've really got to be very happy for him.
This. Rupp had me worried the entire race, but it always seemed like Mo was confident of his position. That move to the front at 600 was just awesome intuition, knowing that they were all going to run up beside him on the home straight. Great tactician, great runner, great champion.
Ethiopians and Kenyans ran right into his hands; he must have been thinking how easy they were making it for him as they jogged the first 2000 meters.
They are testing in London.
You honestly think Bumbi would have finished 7th???? (or better than 7th because you want to sub him in for Rupp).
That wasn't a disgraceful race, slow or fast, racing is racing and it is exciting. That being said, I have no idea what the slew of 12:4X Africans were thinking. They gave Mo that medal on a silver platter.

Tell little Bumbi to run faster next time and he can EARN his place in the Olympics

Their British; Mo's British. What part don't you understand??

Oh, I assume they will root for him, but they are beyond over the top. It's great that Mo won do golds in London and all, but they are acting like Ovett, Coe and Cram never existed.
I doubt that Steve Cram (the announcer you are criticizing) actually thinks that Steve Cram (the athlete) never existed.
holy finishing kick I can't believe rupp got bronze
WHAT A BUNCH OF FREAKING GUTLESS COWARDLY C--TS!!!!!!
God calm down Gebrselassie

Epic final 1600m, 3:57.
This is what a lot of the morons on here can't appreciate. 52 last lap for a 3:57 finish is not a weak 5000
go watch Bolt's 200m again over and over if you cant appreciate tactics.
Bummed Levins didn't get to kick with the front guys but they did split his mile pr...

I don't know if it's the greatest moment in British athletics. I actually thought they said the greatest moment in British track & field. Has England ever had a 5/10K Olympic gold medalist in the distance events? The announcer mentioned Zatopek, Viren, Bekele, and said that Mo had now joined that select company. Hasn't he? If so, what's not to like about the announcing.
Oh, that's right. The preferred American didn't medal. So what? That fact bothers me, too, but some of us are capable of feeling that AND feeling elation at a shrewd, ballsy, perfect race by a guy who was plainly scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Are you kidding me? This Olympics might have had the weakest/least competitive fields in the 5/10k. Almost as if it was all set up for Mo to double. Those guys mentioned are legends in the sport because they all ran fast times (WR) and dominated their events for a prolonged period of time. If Mo Farah comes back next olympics and dominates the field again then it's a conversation.
Until then he's just a guy who couldn't compete on the international stage, moved to Oregon, and miraculously peaked just in time for the Olympiad held in the country he represents (at age 29).

Your post just might be the weakest dumbest post ever on lets run and that's saying a lot.
You negative **sholes are just ruining what could be a great forum for track fans. Shut up and look at some porn or something.
Alright, is it XC season yet? Oh no, one more day.
This is a stupid post. Give up an Olympic shot to go run some time trials? His training partner jut won double gold. Is he over cooked? If so: worth it!!
The point of holding back is so you can go all in when it matters. Rupp had a great games and should have no regrets.
Who's kidding who ? You say Mo couldnt compete on the international stage ! He was European champion before he went to Oregon. This plus World Champion the following year and now Olympic champion Is a fairly prolonged period of time for me ! Seems he has to win them all over again to impress you ! You are probably still struggling to win your neighborhood round the house race .

Rupp will drop down to the 1500, and if the Rio schedule allows it will try a 1500/5k double in Rio.
IMHO he should have tried that this time. Age 30 is tough on the kicking legs, although Lagat was still kicking supremely up until a few years ago.

All I'm saying longevity is required to be compared to greats like Lasse Viren, Emil Zatopek, Kenenisa Bekele, etc. These guys are the best to do it EVER. Mo is close and me saying so isn't a knock on him. He's STILL an Olympic champ and that in itself is the highest accomplishment one can achieve.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
