not bad not bad so you are entering your soph year? continue working on your speed this coming year get that 400 closer to 50 point and the 800 sub 2.
for a full d1 you are gonna need 150 and sub 410 in the mile by senior year. realistic at this point i think especially if you are still growing.
half d1 sub 155 and around 415 mile by senior year. very realistic IF you work hard and have a good coach.
Next year get that speed where it needs to be.
If you run at or under 158 as a junior you may get some interest from low-D1 teams. You'll still have to seek out the coaches and initiate contact and there won't be money unless you improve as a senior.
Honestly, worry about getting good grades. This will help much more.
Just work hard at track and don't forget to have fun.
There are many, many levels of D1.
What big conferences need you to run for scholarship is very different than smaller conference!
well i dont consider those smaller conferences "d1" they are posers.
To get half decent money at a ACC or Big 12 type school you probably need
400- 47.5
800- 1:52
1600- 4:15
3200- 9:15
*Note: A lot of coaches dont go off of XC times unless you run a fast time on a well known course*
For Big South, SoCon, Sun Belt, OVC, etc
400- Sub 49
800- 1:55
1600- Sub 4:25
3200- Sub 9:30
Try to hit 51.X, 1:57, 4:35 JR year and then..
50.X, 1:55, Low 4:20 SR Year
Cam Levins went to a poser school, in a poser conference. It seemed to work out for him. You can have a great experience and get your school paid for by leaving your options open and understanding that not everyone gets to go to Stanford, Oregon or LSU.
thanks guys. what about d2 schools or georgetown?
Get your marks your Junior year. By track season your senior year, rosters will be filling up.
Here's a general rule of thumb:
If you could come in a score in the conference as a freshman, you're probably a 1/2 ride. If you could come in and win a conference title as a freshman, you'll be closer to a full ride (and not the BS "I know I can run those times, excuse, excuse, excuse, just sign me" crap..if you've actually ran the times, in open races, in high school) so you have do the homework on the schools/conferences you'd like to run for.
well georgetown are the times that have already been outlined. however you said in your other thread that you have a 4.0 so that will help there. for D2:
half- 155, 420
full- 153, 412
most schools do not give full unless you are ready to come on and be in their top 5 and they see you as at least and all american down the road. halfs are much more common.
also with your 4.0 look at ivys like princeton and dartmouth because they dont have scholarships but they have near unlimited financial aid they can dish out so try that.
