You really believe that the guys who beat him aren't running 130 to 150 miles a week during certain periods?
Levins is training correctly and will likely snag a medal in the future.

How can you say that he's burnt out now? He's just out of college but managed to hang on with the lead group for 96% of the Olympic 10k final. This is exceptionally impressive for him right now and he never did anything that indicated he could do better than this, so I don't see any evidence of him being burnt out here.
Ah you idiots! He didn't call him an overall burned out runner, but just burne dout this season from doing so many races, from having to be in shape during last fall, this winter, this spring.
Get it??? Athletes who have to have several peaks a year is usually a little burned out by the end of the season. It is not optimal.
He wont qualify. Lopes Lamong wont qualify either..

The phrase "burnt out" has become the catchphrase of the haters who are afraid to work themselves. If your state has a local running messageboard you've probably seen people saying "so and so has been running 60 mpw this summer, he's going to be burnt out for cross". People say it either when they know nothing about training or they want to make themselves feel better about not training well. There are a small minority of people who know what they're talking about and still use the term. I suggest those people change their phrasing to separate themselves from the idiots.

Totally agree. First of all, saying that you didn't go 100% but ended up not even close to Top 10 is stupid. If you win the race, you can say whatever you want, but STFU if you didn't win. It shows a lack of respect and you'll just create more enemies for yourself when he starts racing in Diamond League in the future races.
That guy needs a PR team to clean up his image.
I understand what he's saying (can hang with the pack, but not enough speed to go for the win). But so is everyone else. You can count in one hand how many guys can go 53.x in the last 400m.
Good luck "saving for the 5K", because he's gonna look foolish now that he's on everyone's crosshairs. Douchebag.
BTW, the race ran in a really slow 27:30, so of course he can hang (along with 10 other guys). But if they start running 26:4x, you're gonna see just a handful, and let's face it ... he'll be dropped long before the last 400m. It's a championship race, so hanging with the pack means nothing. It just mean you met the "minimum requirement" to be competitive.
You would have to duck for this thread to go over your head any further.
I don't think he actually said this. So calm down. The OP is just being an idiot.

Let's put this in perspective (look at the PBs)
1 - Farah 26:46
2 - Rupp 26:48
3 - T. Bekele 27:03 (12:52 - 5000)
4 - K. Bekele 26:17
5 - Mushiri 27:05
6 - Tadese 26:37
7 - Medhin 27:16 (13:04)
8 - Gebremarian 26:52
9 - Arikan 27:38 (13:05)
10 - Kipsiro 27:04 (12:50)
...
and ahead of
12 - Masai 26:49
13 - Ritz 27:22 (12:56)
Last 8000m at 27:05 pace...
Only total beasts beat him. With the exception of Medhin and Arikan perhaps. But both of them are pretty good in the 5000m (3 or 4 seconds faster than collegiate record good)...
nate houle??
LOL. The non-African bronze, yes. That and $1.60 will get you a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts.
He's in the final. The legend grows.

How incredible that this guy makes two Olympic finals, hanging with the lead group until the kick in the 10,000 and who knows what will happen in the 5k. A short time ago he was the oddity who had the gall to try to stay with Lawi Lalang in NCAA Cross. Really, for all the levity, he's an amazing story.
And we you ever so sure that a guy was NOT doping?

...not only did he qualify for the final, but he also now has a new 5,000m PR...
Ok, his 5,000m final officially sucked... In his post race interview, he mentioned that he's been nursing a cold since Tuesday. He is obviously still in good shape. I hope that he gets over his cold quickly, that he races a hard 5,000m in Europe in the next couple of weeks and that he breaks the Canadian record.
