Waaaaaaah.
same here...I teared up watching him hold the flag.
I did too. it was beautiful :)
Me too. I yelled and clapped so much that last 200 that I scared my son and my dog.
Lot of years I waited to see that. Maybe this will spark 3 decades of wondering when Kenyan/Ethiopian distance running will be back...
lots of people not getting Chik-fil-a in this thread.
yelling and screaming the whole last mile.......screw the ethiopians and the dirty racin g
Seriously, assuming all the criers are dudes, you guys need to get your heads checked. I am a HUGE fan of distance running, and I'm not gonna cry about Rupp getting 2nd. Really guys?
I was busy freaking and that Farah is gonna get knighted.
I cried too...but for different reasons. Sucks

1. It's a sport you love and basically sacrifice your life for. Can't you relate to that? Do you run at all? You can't find the beauty in watching someone fulfill a dream?
2. Our country just earned a medal in an event dominated by East Africans in which nobody thought we had a chance. USA USA USA.
Amazing moment, I'll remember for life. Rupp inspired. To think the 5k is yet to come!! I feel like I could stop caring about running now, like this one glorious point is everything I've waiting to get out of the sport.
And we have Lagat, Centro, Symmonds, Flangan, Uceny, Solomon, Hall and others to go. It really could be a magical week.

That last part is what gets me the most, seeing somebody realize their life's greatest dream, and the raw emotion on their face. Hell I was getting a bit worked up watching Ennis, just so damn happy. Makes you realize there's still quite a lot of good in the world, despite all of the shit.
BBC tv was very positive about Rupp. Lots of delight over here about an American silver medal in distance running. Well done!

Someone would have fulfilled a dream no matter who placed where. Why should I cry for Rupp getting his? Because he's American??? I probably have more in common with the Lithuanian or Canadian runners than I do with this privileged silver-spoon guinea pig.
I understand the magnitude of the event. I'm not debating that, simply that crying is quite an odd response from men.
And yes, I know the sacrifice of running.

Presenting folks, Letsrun's troll/idiot of the year! A round of applause is warranted!
I'm with you guys. I cried when Rupp went by the Bekeles and cried that I can never have Jessica.
I got all choked up over it. I didn't cry but I certainly know what OP is saying. It was a great race and a great moment for US distance running.
I also thought Ennis and Farah's golds were great also but it is different seeing an American medal. I felt the same way with Shalane 4 years ago.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
