Does anyone think being boxed in for so long made a difference for K Bekele?

That, ladies and gentleman, is what it looks like to have an African rationalize losses like Americans have for 40 years. The tide is turning.
Crazy guy not so crazy!!! nailed it

Awesome. I'm hoarse. I suspect that the video, when re-watched and kibbitzed, will show that Rupp ran a damn near perfect race. Never lost his cool. He ran a championship race. And took the silver.
You may be sure that if he could have beaten Mo, he would have. But the look in his eyes when he realized that the boys had taken 1-2 was priceless. If you're gonna get beat to the line, it better be by your boy.
A great day for the UK and the USA. Extraordinary night in that stadium, with the UK taking gold, in sequence, in the women's heptathalon, the long jump (white men CAN jump, apparently), and the 10,0000. England hasn't had a night of track like this in how many decades? Ever?
Indeed. My compliments to all the manky-teethed brits that hang out here. Enjoy it boys and girls!

Why on earth are you guys watching NBC? The BBC feed was impeccable with Bren and Crammy commentating first class.
There's lots of ways to get it.

Best post ever!
I don't have words right now for my pride in Mo and Galen. Thanks boys for bringing tears to a cynical old man.
Had a 53.7 for Rupp on the last lap.
I won't lie. I had Ken not Tariku. Thought Ken had got the bronze when watching it live though.
I almost know what you mean about being disappointed, because I do think Rupp is totally content to finish behind Mo, if they're 1-2. But I think at this point, if Rupp came up on Mo's shoulder, Mo would just go as fast as he needed to to hold him off. That might change in the next couple years though, with Rupp being able to outkick him. These two guys training together has worked out brilliantly. Congrats to Alberto too
yeah but they will not get away with EPO at the OG.

Dope testing result inn 2012 so far:
UK wins TDF
UK wins Hep/10000
Yep
Waste of time if you missed it. Good way to rationalize the whole thing. So even if it hadn't gone out you were going to turn it off anyway with ten minutes to go ;-)
Great drama if you saw it ( Comcast didn't go out...thank God ).
I saw Billy Mills win in 1964 so lucky to still be around to see Rupp get the silver.
If you train with a guy day in day out you begin to believe that you can stay with them in a race. That's what happened today. That and all of the hard work.
It has nothing to do with the selection process. The team was the best Kenya had. I can't speak of what happened to Kiprop but looks like he had a problem coming into the race. As for the rest, Moses Masai could have challenged for 3rd but his countryman Bedan Karoki, due to inexperience, messed it up by boxing him in at the crucial moment when he was sitting on Mo Farah's shoulders. He ran onto his track and slowed and at that same moment other runners ran on the outside passing both Masai and Bedan. He could not get out and by the time everyone was gone from the outside lane, there was no way he could have caught up with the leaders. Anyway that is all history now and we have to look to next year and beyond.

What the hell happened to the Kenyans? That insane selection system they have just had another epic fail.
The Kenyans really blew it. Once Kiprop was out the other two looked tired from throwing in surges. Total backfire.
Rupp played it perfectly. He ran nice and steady throughout. He never surged during the race and when the others around him started looking tired he was just on auto-pilot.
Bekele was set up well. He just wasn't himself. Nothing to give when he need to respond. Reminds me of Viren in Moscow.
I thought Farah was going to be too tired to kick with all of the pushing around during the race but he proved me wrong. How great was it when he came out and got the crowd going before the race started? fantastic!!
