Evan Jager Has A Better Chance at a Medal Than Galen Rupp 7/20/2012 3:19PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
Both Rupp and Jager are U.S. record holders in the 10,000m and steeplechase, respectively. Rupp simply cannot medal, and I have elaborated upon this extensively and profoundly, but Jager has about a 5 percent chance, meaning that of course, he won't medal, either, but he does have a better chance than Galen. Perhaps Jager and Kemboi will get into the steeplechase version of a knifefight for the bronze, and we know how that would turn out. I'd love to see what Merga would do to the competition in a steeplechase. Perhaps they'd DQ him on the first hurdle.

you need to go back to school and learn how to write.

And Jager has about the same chance as Rupp to medal, its just Rupp gets two shots and Jager only gets one. That said I still think in any individual event Lagat has the best chance.

Evan Jager set a U.S. record at age 23. Galen managed to do it at age 25. Both are great runners, but in a 3000m flat race, it is too tough to call. Jager and Rupp can probably both run 7:33 or so.

Nah Rupp could probably go 7:28-29. You don't run sub 8:10 2 mile indoors without sub 7:30 3k outdoor ability. Also Rupp's AR is more impressive.

Galen Rupp will NEVER run as fast as Bernard Lagat's pb at 3000m. Last year, when Lagat ran 7:29.00, he ran 3:33.11 and 12:53.60, a combination which Rupp will NEVER have, even if he gets fairly close. 7:32 is Rupp's ceiling, but he's probably worth 7:33 currently. I do get tired of trying to educate the ignorant.

Rupp was probably in AR shape in the 10k in Beijing. He was 22 then. He ran 27:36 in the heat of Beijing. He also broke the AR in 2010 but he did so behind Chris Solinsky.

I'll be rooting for both in London.

Jager needs to run rounds. Can he? How much will a last lap sprint to Qualify take out of him?

Just in case you did not know, there is a difference between "probably coulda" and "did".

1/10

Lagat had horrible tactics that race. He could have run 1-2 seconds faster. I know you're trolling, but 7:32 can't be Rupp's ceiling when he's run a 8:09 indoor 2 mile, which is more impressive.

Both Jager and Rupp are sub 7:30.

Rupp probably a little faster 7:26-7:27 or so. But thats in a perfect race.

That said I still think Webb could have gone faster than both of them in 07 if he wanted too.

You're really one of the morons, and why are you talking about a perfect race? Have you ever seen one? Jager's ceiling at 3000m might be higher than Galen's, but Galen is NEVER breaking 7:30, and Jager probably won't, either.
