Part of me is a little surprised no one attempted to get to the shooter. I'm certainly not saying I would have. But of all the people who were getting shot, none of them considered "fight" a better option than "flee". Too bad, because maybe that would have saved lives. During 911, we know 1 of the 4 planes had its passengers fight the highjackers, but that ratio translated to zero in this situation. I'm guessing it was because of the suddeness of it all. It's terrible to think about needing to mentally prepare yourself to defend you and your family when you go out in public in the future, but I guess now I kind of have. |

I don't know if the tear gas had an effect on the patrons and their reactions during the chaos, but I would never go down without a fight! And if it meant that two more people could get out in time to safety then it would be worth it. I will go out in a hail of gunfire to save those around me! |

And that's assuming that the second shooter doesn't accidentally hit others as well. The argument against armed bystanders is that statistically speaking, the number of deaths from mad gunmen prevented would be less than the number of accidental deaths caused by people carrying guns. The news articles says that he was wearing bulletproof vest and some kind of helmet and mask. This isn't the first time people have done this. You ever see the video of the bank robbers in CA (I believe) that had a HUGE shootout in the streets with police. Bullets were simply bouncing off of them as they strolled the streets with AKs kicking some serious police ass. |

Even if 5 members of the crowd were strapped, they would be hard pressed to even injure this man before they realized he had bulletproof equipment on and were shot down. They become obvious targets once he is shot upon. Apparently this man was VERY well equipped, and while he wouldn't be hard for a SWAT team to take down, the average moviegoers JUST MIGHT have a struggle doing so. Do YOU actually think before YOUR brain spews out uesless drivel? |

Let's not forget the attackers biggest advantage -the element of surprise. It does not matter how many guns you have if you are caught off guard. If your guns aren't already pointing, then you're already dead. |

You obviously missed my post above. But yes personally I would be able to take him down since I have quite a bit of training to do exactly that. And let me say this again, a bulletproof vest does not make you invincible and you might be surprised to find out that there are different levels of protection offered on vests. I can tell you are not well versed in gun usage since the only people who can shoot two guns accurately are fictional characters in movies and television. I'd feel safer if someone was coming at me with two guns since they wouldn't be able to aim them. Btw one of my concealed carry pistols is a FN five seven with the good ammo. Google it. |

Just heard the live report from the police captain. Sounds like this guy was pretty well protected (leg/groin/chest armor, ballistic helmet, gas mask). With this said, I don't know enough about armor/ballistics to know what a bullet from a bystander could do to him. |
