Rudisha is freaking amazing, and if anyone can do it, it will be him.
He's a monster. He's a monsters, monster.
If anyone can bury the world record in the 800 for a long time to come it is going to be Rudisha.

This is where intelligence comes in handy. Rudisha will NEVER run 1:39.00, and it is absurd to discuss it. So far, he's barely superior to Kipketer, and although he may prove to be much superior, he'll NEVER run faster than 1:40.75. I know ceilings as well as anybody who's ever lived, and Rudisha has a ceiling that is not near 1:39 flat.

Wasn't Rupp's 13:00?

No, that was on one particular day, but Rupp's ceiling is 12:55, and of course, he has not and will not prove me wrong, because he CANNOT.

Agreed. There is probably no one alive at the moment who can run 1:39.00. I think Coe, Kip and Rudisha were/are all capable of breafing 1:41.0 in ideal races, Obviously there is only Rudisha now, and I can see 1:40.6 - 1:40.8 after the Olynpics if he doesn't get injured or try it too often. I think he'll be 24 next year, so he may have another 2 seasons of being able to get quicker, but after that he will start to slow down. I don't think he'll ever break 1:40.0, but may get down to 1:40.5
highly unlikely to happen

Given he just basically solo'ed a 1:41:58, on a cold and damp track, in early July, 1:40:75 seems more than a tad pessimistic. I don't know about 1:39, but he can more than likely beat 1:40:75, imo.
1:39:0? Not with Tangui leading him.

True, you could use some intelligence. Good point.
Rudisha is not BARELY superior to Kipketer. Look at the all-time list. DR (still with obvious upside) has vastly out-populated that list compared with WK's whole career.
He can go under 1:40:50 - anyone who doubts that after seeing his Paris race doesn't understand the sport.

You're an idiot. IF you look at their personal bests, Rudisha has run 1:41.01 and Kipketer 1:41.11. Wilson Kipketer has 3 WC golds and an Olympic silver and bronze. The truth is that Kipketer is superior to Rudisha, but in terms of personal bests is where Rudisha is barely superior. How stupid are you? You're too stupid to recognize that shaving time off now is going to be extremely difficult. Rudisha will soon be past his prime. Kipketer could have run with Rudisha.

Cliffy/Stuck, Rupp has proven you wrong for about the last two years of your hate filled life.

Why are you so obsessed with Galen Rupp? David Rudisha is not very bright if he thinks he can run 1:39.00. He's as stupid as most of you IF that is the case.

Dude that's not cool, don't hate on King David. There's absolutely no possible way to definitely say either Kipketer or Rudisha was better. They were/are both very fast and dominant.
Yes, Kipketer does have more medals than Rudisha, but your comparing what one man did in an entire career to what Rudisha has done in just 2 years.
Look at it this way, Kipketer in 9 years made 5 medals and 4 sub-1:42s. Rudisha in 2 years has 6 1:42s and 1 medal. At this rate, after 9 years Rudisha will have 5 or 6 medals, and 27 sub-1:42s. Which is very likely, as El Guerrouj went under 3:30 31 times, and made 7 medals over 9 years. I bring El G into this because Rudisha is very similar to El G's dominance. Remember Rudisha's 34 win streak? Very similar to how El G won like 70 out of 75 races.
So looking at this logic, who is the stupid one.

You are indeed the stupid one. You don't understand that Rudisha's dominance is not going to last very long. Rudisha is great, but your logic is really weak. Rudisha will NOT be the best 800m runner in the world in 2014. That is obvious to the intelligent, so it escapes you, by definition.
Oh and just to touch up on the actual topic at hand, Rudisha said that going 48.5 and 50.5 was POSSIBLE. Possible as in he might be able to do it on the right day, good pacing, etc.. And I think we should leave judgment on this to David and his coach. After all, you have zero clue what goes on in practice with him, and what he's done. All you see are a few races, which may or may not accurately reflect his max potential.
And don't talk ceilings anymore, cause it's clear your "judgments" are bull. Remember Galen's 8:09? Think that's a little faster than 8:15. Now go make me a sammich.

You're the village idiot. I suppose if Alberto and Galen said that Galen could run 12:20, then we should leave "judgment on this to" Galen and Alberto. Listen, I am smarter than Galen, Alberto and Rudisha, and Rudisha will NEVER run close to 1:39 flat, and Galen will NEVER run faster than 12:55. OK, listen to the intelligent for once in your intellectually vacuous existence.
Less talk......more sammich.

Dude, saying Rudisha won't go under 1:40 is probably a good prediction. The odds are definitely stacked against him and lowering the 800WR by over a second would be an unbelievable accomplishment. Rupp going under 12:55 though? That would shock... nobody but you.
Wariner looks like he is finished at 400m. He is still with Adidas though. They should just pay him to pace Rudisha.
Deano, we both know that if Seb had been healthy in 82 and 83 he would have put the 800 out of reach. He would still be the holder now.
